Vegas Babee!!!! LW Reunion!

So if I'm going off responses to my previous post it sounds like Las Vegas is the destination and August is the month of choice!  Now comes the tricky part!  What type of a vacation do we want?  Do we want a planned itinerary?  Do you want 1-2 planned group activities per day?  Do you want it to be a free for all so we can do whateva we want?  If you'd like some planned activities (BTW...all of these are optional) please let me know what you are thinking!  Fitness related, sight seeing, casino hoping, finding a hubby and getting married.......LOL  I can't come up with a price until I know more of what we want.  Do we want to stay at a 5 Star hotel or is everyone ok with getting the cheapest rate at the best place?  Do you prefer downtown or the strip?...SHOOT AWAY!

BTW how many days minimum AND maximum do you want this to be??  I will find a group rate based on the lowest MAXIMUM # of days requested.  I will also price out group rates for those who want to stay longer!

It's looking more and more like Sin City is a well liked destination........Someone did mention possibly being able to set up a group cruise rate too!.........however, this is something that will take a great deal more planning and possibly a larger finacial burden......I will definitely look into it and see if we can come up with something under $1000 if not this time around next time!!!

We have been having a discussion in the chat group about a possible LW Reunion in the future!  I figured I better carry the conversation over here to the LW board since this is where the majority of the LW's are!  There has been mention of Vegas by several, one person mentioned taking a poll to see where everyone is capable of traveling to so we can include as many folks as possible!
When would this happen??  No difinitive plan at this point.  I was thinking end of summer or Next winter to allow people a little time to save up for a trip.....

Do you guys have any suggestions as to how we can plan this in order to allow as many LW's to attend??

My personal opinion is Vegas for the destination.  It tends to be one of the less expensive places to travel to in the country no matter where you come from.  Not to mention the cheap meals too!....LOL  who wants to pay $20 for a meal you can barely eat when you can pay 99C for a buffet and eat 1/4 cup of food and feel good about spending as much as you did.......LOL  BUT that is just MO....

I am so in on that one! Vegas is fun and cheap and gives us a reason to dress up our cute new bodies! I would be most game for 2 nights, weekends are always a plus. I don't care where I stay I actually go often and stay downtown cause its cheaper but there is less to do if your not into the gambling I would say a mix of free time and shows and event kind of things would be really fun. I don't really know anyone in the LW group yet cause I am pretty new. I am northern ca so if there are any events up here Ill try and get to them and make some friends!
Cant wait!

Not sure if I could swing such an awesome trip (With two kids in college!), but I do think Vegas is a great sounding trip. I'd like to mention that if you were to choose the strip, Harrah's was a very reasonable place to stay. It's in the middle, near the Venetian and across from Treasure Island. That makes everything easy to get to, and there is a free shuttle there to the Rio (Which hosts an amazing "show in the sky" for free!)

I'd love to meet all of you sometime! Good luck with your plans.

I've always stayed on the Strip.  Downtown has its novelties, but is a hike to get to the strip.

August should be "off season" - so the rates should be better.  I can't really stand more than 4-5 days there... I run out of money - LOL.  I'd say 3 nights - 4 days?

I'd be game for a show or two.  I don't usually go with a big itinerary and like to just do what I want... I guess it also depends on how many people commit to going.

I am totally in if I am not too pregnant (fingers crossed). I vote to definitely stay on the strip and I agree with Jody 3-4 nights is the perfect amount of time for Vegas. I think we should have one planned event daily then play it by ear. Just my 2 cents, it is fun to just go with the flow too. Oh I hope I can go, it would be a lot of fun to meet you all. I love shopping there!!!

I WISH but I suspect neither of us can manage.

We have a trip to NY already in the works that is involving a 6 month checkup for him and a get together with friends as well.

We also plan on renewing our vows in Sept. You see, we hit 15 years in late Sept and since we realize our rings can NOT be resized due to how they are made, we will be purchasing new ones and will want them blessed. So we will be having a renewal ceremony then in late Sept.

Liz....
Just wanted to comment on renewing your marriage vows.  That is so romantic and so nice that you still feel so in love after 16 years.  I'm happy for you.

I've never been to Vegas and can't think of a better group to experience it with.  I can show up on Friday and leave on Sunday evening.  I leave the location to people who have been there.  As far as what to do, I'm coming to hang out with all of you.  I think a great pool and gym area where we can lounge and spend time together would be great. I bet we would have some great conversation in the hot pool.   My only deal breakers are hotels that are smoke filled.

Ditto on every single thing Lee just said.
Location:  The strip, Babee!
Length of stay:  2- 3 days sounds about right.  Not too much or too little
Weekdays or weekend:  Weekdays are better for our family due to school age kids, but weekend okay
Activities:  Hangin' with you guys with maybe one or two shows per day.
Dates:  I've never been to Vegas, but i hear August is scorching hot. "Stinkin' hot" 126 degrees hot.  I'm not sure we could even be outside by the pool for long in those temps. And I've read that August has gotten to be very popular with fresh 21 yr olds and families which means crowds and noisy pools.  Fall is s'posed to be a great time of year to visit. Still warm enough to hang out by the pool, but comfortable for seeing the sights on the strip and for taking a hiking excursion out to the canyon. The only thing I read we need to be be aware of, major conventions because the hotels raise their rates.
Sounds like fun fun fun! :D

LOL  Kath.......I've checked the avg temps for Vegas in August and we are looking at the max being around 105....that is a VERY dry heat....so it's going to feel more like 80 or 90.....there is NO HUMIDITY!  I've been to Vegas when it is that hot and I loved it!  Spent my days by the pool!  I didn't feel like I was drowning in my own sweat.....LOL  AND it's beautiful at night!
