Same as Ava here - drink BEFORE eating - and I drink UP until I eat, then its much easier to wait the 30-45 minutes afterwards.  You don't get as thirsty.

I physically drink more than a sip after eating.  If I take in more than a sip to clear my palate, it causes discomfort and feels like it sits behind my breastbone.

It is my understanding that we can not drink because it pushed the food through and you will get hungry sooner.

I was also under the understanding that with the VSG, stretching out the sleeve is minimal because they remove the stretchy part of the stomach and basically whats left is muscle and won't stretch very much.

I commisserate with you on the lactose intolerance.  I have never been able to find a protein shake that my stomach or tastebuds will both tolerate.
