Trying to get a date in mind for lap-band surgery.  I am going to Mexico to an all inclusive in mid march to celebrate my birthday so I was thinking I should get it done the week after I get back. I am scared to get it done too close to my vacation and not be comfortable with my new eating rules. Does this seem reasonable.

Some doctors have you do a two week liquid diet before surgery, so you will want to check into that. You wouldn't want to be on a liquid diet for your vacation.

My dr required a 4 week, with weekly weigh in Optifast before surgery.  Plus we had lots of pre-surgery test that needed to be done in the weeks before.  I had a committement out of town, volunteering for the World Equestrian Games, that was 4 weeks after surgery and I make it but it wasn't easy.  Some Drs have rules about travel after surgury so check that.  I either had to do it when I did or wait a few months to clear my schedule.  If your Dr is like mine, you don't tell them when, they tell you when they can schedule.

I recommend you give yourself 2 weeks after your vacation.  I went to Jamaica right before my surgery.  I needed the week I got back for my pre-surgery diet. I had surgery the next week.  I'm glad I had the vacation first.
