Miserable with possible gut flora imbalance???

I wanted to spare you my gas and poop question, but I just couldn't find an answer by googling.  For 2 days I have been miserable with gas and bloating. It sounds like I might have a bacterial or flora imbalance in my gut.  I cannot recall eating or drinking anything out of the ordinary before this started...(although I did eat a large protein bar the evening this started, but that's nothing I haven't eaten before...).  I read about doing an enema using yogurt???  This was all I could find ... other than the Ayurvedic website that said my fire and water of my personality aren't mixing well! lol!

Anyone have a home remedy for this???

LOL  !! I suggest U try probiotics  from the OTHER end  first ...lol...

gas x is my old trusty standby  but i notice things start to churn if i dont take  a probiotic  chewable every few days .

If i do ....NO problem .   Drinking enough water and my daily fig  are also important tools  for me .

Probiotics are great to keep the good bacterias in order. Definitely get tons of water each day too.

Yep, try probiotics first. If they don't do it for you, ask your doc for a round of Flagyl. Then follow that up with probiotics again.

I had the same problem and started probiotics. I take two a day (when I remember)and that helps and also keep gas Ex around in strips.  I've had gas for 2 days!

A dose of Miralax to get things out of you, then probiotics, lots of water and no carbs or sugar until your system rebalanced.  I find that carbs and sugar are the only things that produce gas in my body.  When I eat very low carb I never get gas.

Hi there. I have found a balance with my gut. I still get bubble gut every now and then so this is not a cure but my routine that helps keep things flowing....

Papaya enzymes (helps digestion AND the absorption of minerals)
I pop these on an empty pouch several times daily.

Chewable probiotics - 2 in the morning...repeat for lunch and evening. Again I try to intake on an empty pouch.

Hot lemon water - squeeze 1 lemon into hot or warm water. Add sweetener to taste. I drink this every night before bed. It is not only soothing but gets my gut settled from the day's abuse and every morning have a visit to the bathroom. I also drink the lemon water thru a straw due to the acidity levels and then gargle a little bit of water to neutralize acids. This is just me....

I also take colace at night every other night to keep things softer. Just in case I dont get my water intake.

Last but not least.....you gotta drink LOTS of water...64 oz min. I drink minimum of 96 because I drink a lot caffeine. They say that for every ounce of coffee you should up the water intake of water by an ounce...

It works. Period. I also add fresh fruit and veggies to up the fiber intake. You can see my posts for M&M. Higher protein and low carbs tend to back things up. So since I am unwilling to compromise on the carb intake...I will add the other stuff to balance things out..

I hope this helps out...

I was having tons of problems with horrible digestive and gas pains.  I haven't eaten gluten, dairy, sugar or soy since Jan 1. and I haven't had a single pain!  You might want to look into seeing if you have any food senitivities.

These are all such great suggestions!  Things have settled down quite a bit, with the aid of the remedies and precautions posted here.  I will have to post again when I've pinpointed the main culprit. Meanwhile, keep posting your thoughts.  This is NOT a pleasant way to live and it sounds like many of you have this problem.
