Is this a forum for me

Goodness, I have been all over forums looking for a place I belong and hope I have found it.  I am hoping to get a lapband in the next couple of months.  I am about 50-60 pounds overweight with health issues.  The other forums aren't too friendly when they find out that you don't have 100 pounds to lose but I'm sure they will want support when they have their last 50 or 60 to go.  I will see a dr in Houston in 2 weeks to see if I can set this up, I will be a self pay.  I have been able to lose 20 # on many diets and also gain back 25# on many diets so I think this is my next step.  Nervous that I won't be able to eat regular food, I see so much of " i can't eat steak, I can't eat chicken breast, I can't eat pasta."  Let me know if I can find support and encouragment here or do I need to find a different forum, thanks

Welcome to the LW's!  Being a LW can be tough on the other boards.  We welcome everyone here no matter your situation!  There is no surgery bashing, no lack of concern for your issues because you only have Xamount to lose.  We treat eachother with respect and offer nothing but support!  If you hang around for a day or two you will see that!  I hope you've found your new OH HOME!

Welcome, this is a very friendly forum.  The only thing that separates most of us from regular food is time and the ability to chew the heck out of it.  I was worried about not being able to eat pasta because it's my favorite food, but I'm not missing it.  I'm glad you're joining us, you'll find alot of support here.

Welcome, grumpyswife...glad you came over to check us out. I saw your post on the main board and yes, we are active here.... :)

You also might want to check out the sleeve if your insurance will cover it. It's also ideal for LW's. Unlike the lapband, you don't have to worry about fills afterward.

Anyway, glad you came in and I hope you find what you need here. We try to be the friendliest board around.

Welcome!  You definitely found the right place.  This is a great board with lots of encouragement.

Depending on who you talked to I "only" had 48 to 78 pounds to lose.  Well, 48 sounded like a lot to me and I had proven through history that I needed more help.  And, with the help of my tool, I made the 78 pounds.  I haven't weighed this since  middle school.  And, I love every minute of it.

Best of luck on your surgery research.  I definitely don't want to bash anyone's ideas on which surgery to have.  Who am I to advise anyone on what is right for them???

BUT, I would suggest that you be open to hearing about all the options.  The LapBand might be exactly what you need, but it never hurts to look at what else is out there.  Talk to your surgeon and see what he/she  suggests and most importantly, why he/she suggests that particular surgery for you.  Don't be afraid to ask questions!

Then, do your own research and decide what you want.  Come ask us questions - lots of people can chime in with their personal experiences.  Then, you will know you've made the most educated decision you can for yourself.  Make sense?

Again, welcome!

Welcome.  You can certainly call this your home.  We welcome everyone and are supportive to everything, unless you are sabatoging your self or your plan.
I, for one, can eat anything I have tried.  The only problems I have had were when I ate too fast and didn't chew well enough.  I just eat small amounts.
Do your research and ask questions.  We will help when we can.

Welcome. You should be very happy here. We have had all sorts of surgeries and everyone is respectful. We have a wide range of starting weights. I know that ANY amount of weight is hard to get off and KEEP OFF.  That is the blessing of surgery. You will have a tool to keep it off.
