Welcome Ruthie!!! I also think that this board is the most supportive forum on this site. The posters here are wonderful and full of knowledge. I have learned so much. I think that you will enjoy the support that you will receive on this board.

I have 4 furbabies that I love and swing when needed LOL.

Hi Ruthie(neat name - that is my sister's name also)
Welcome to the LW Boards.  Your surgery will be here before you know it.  Do you have to do any type of pre-op diet?
Good luck and be sure to keep us updated on your progress.

Hi Linda!!   Thanks for the welcome, and this is what's really neat.  I'm the youngest and my oldest sister's name is Linda!  LOL  Does there happen to be a Janis or Mike in your siblings too?  :-D

On the 26th I'll start my pre-op diet.  I'd heard over and over about liquid diets and was anticipating that but, nope, I'll get a protein shake at breakfast and lunch and a small protein w/veggie for dinner for two weeks.  They just want to get rid of as much of the fatty part of the liver as they can... they said.  Does that sound right?

I will most definitely be here on the board as i go through this and sincerely thank you ladies for being here!!!

Ruthie, that is too funny.  I am the middle child.  I have an older brother, Doug and Ruthie is the baby like you!!

I could either do 4 shakes a day or 3 shakes and a lite meal for my 2 weeks pre-op.  I had to mix my shakes with milk because the water was just not cutting it with me.  I got the shakes and so weak feeling.  Once I added the water and put it in my magic bullet with ice and made it like a milk shake I was good to go.  Don't be afraid to try different things.

Good luck.

Tell little Ruthie that little Ruthie said HELLOW!  lol

Sounds like our pre-op diet's basically the same.  My NUT did recommend milk for the extra 8g of Protein, especially after WLS if tolerated.  Thanks for sharing what worked for you... it gives me ideas to ponder.  Not to worry... I'm going to experiment with something new every day if I can... once the dust settles that is.  :-)

I think it's all going to work out fine.  I sometimes wish that I was the sort of person that could persevere and do it all on my own... but then I wouldn't be me.  I'd be some hoity toity person giving me and my bubble buttom dirty looks.  Little would she know how diligently I worked to perfect those particular curves.  ROFL!

Hi Ruthie,

Linda and I had the same dr. so we had the same pre-op diet!  Time passed quickly and it will for you too!  Before you know it  your surgery will be behind you and you will be on your way!  Best of luck to you as you start this journey!

Hi Beverly,  That's neat that  you two had the same doctor & pre-op.  I wonder what it is that constitutes the requirement to do liquid instead of semi-liquid.  BMI maybe?  Another board member gave me the name & forum of a woman who also had my surgeon and liked him.  I may look her up and get her opinion in detail.

Time does indeed pass quickly!!  July was my informational meeting, September the first time with the Surgeon, and now?? I'M HERE!!  lol    My head's still spinning a little bit but I know all the info I've been fed will click after hanging out with you LW's!!!   Thanks for all the best wishes!!  :-D
