Thank you Cindy!! Are you currently living in an RV? (Happy Camper?) We recently moved out of our little 5th wheel into a park model in preparation for my surgery plus long-term living. The Mobile Village we live in has only 24 units and is a very close community. I'm loving it. Been here since August.
I wish that for you, if that's what you want to do! Possibly after WLS we could do the same thing. Living in it full time for 5 months was not fun for me. The steps all day long almost did me in and I kept bumping into things... like the WALLS of the hallway to the bedroom. LOL How soon before your hubby retires?
Welcome, Ruthie...as others have said, LW's are a completely different breed. I suspect you got bombarded by a surgical discussion as to your type of surgery. Typically RNY'er's do, esp by DS'ers. They want to be sure you know all your options.
Anyway, Tell us about yourself.
I'm 56, married, with 5 feline furbabies at home so when we swing critters, I swing them...they aren't happy when I do that tho, LOL. I'm married to another lightweight here on the board, Charles (cbramsey5898), and we have two dd's, both married.
My surgery is scheduled for the 24th (11 days from now), I'm having the DS. Dh had his surgery (also had the DS) the 16th of Dec, has lost 30lbs already.
Welcome aboard.
And if you have Facebook, there is a LW board there.

Thank you Liz. Nice to meet you!
I haven't been around long enough to be bombarded about my RNY decision. I see the DS all over the place and it looks wonderful. However, two reasons for the RNY for me. #1 My Bariatric Center of choice offers RNY, Sleeve, and Band only and #2 My insurance covers RNY and Band only.
I'm 56 as well, originally from El Paso, Texas and as an Army Brat have traveled overseas 3 times. Was an over the road trucker for 8 years and saw every state but Maine while I sat there and got bigger and bigger. LOL I have a beagle, a terrier, and two 16 year old sister kitties that even road with me on the truck.
I was not able to have any children so it's me, the fur babies, and my husband... a 100% disabled Vet that used to be a strapping Ohio Hillbilly. I'm more his caregiver than I am his wife anymore, and I've allowed that to be a stressor in the past. We've been married 12 years, which would have been 22 years had we gotten married the first time we were engaged. I chickened out though, we both married other people, and after 7 years we were both divorced and started looking on the internet until we found each other again. If not for our early history together I don't think I'd have been able to stay married to him with all the issues involved.
We moved to AZ in 2002 because the storms in Ohio wreak havoc on his nerves (literally causing severe spasticity) and are doing okay out here. The weather is definitely better for him.
I was layed off from my last job and knew that this was the best chance I'd had so far to get surgery taken care of... so I'm going for it and am really glad to be here!
I do Facebook and might look up LW's over there sometime. FB is so easy and fast that it's becoming a preferred method of communication over the boards I've frequented so... I don't want to check it out too soon. ;-)
