Oh the gas pains...How do you stay regular?

How do you manage to keep your bowels regular?  or is that asking too much?  I used to think "how bad can it be"  when people would complain about  the gas pains..i never knew they could be soooo bad.  Can you share your secrets to success if you have any?  I currently take two 100 mg colace before bed every night and miralax in my AM and PM shake.  I have added spinach to my diet and also beets (high in sugar i know) I also added oatmeal at breakfast for more fiber (and of course more carbs).  I had stopped taking my iron all together (i know bad idea) because of this and it was way better but I have been extremely tired lately and thought it might be lack of iron.  Just when I think everything is moving I get to this point again.  Not losing, but not gaining and I want to loose 15 more lbs.  I feel like I am a mess and whining so sorry if it come across that way but you all always have great advice.

Thanks for listening.

I use gas x strips or caps when needed.  Also I use benefiber daily in my morning decaf coffee protein.  But I haven't had as many issues as some so I know you will get more advice.  Fluids are important and I make sure I have at least 64 oz a day. My nut said to go to 100 oz if needed for constipation.  Fiber is good but you have to have the fluid to go with it.
Congrat on your loss and good luck with the other.

Sheri,
You are already doing more than what I do.  Two colace and 1 tbls Miralax in the morning.  When it gets real bad I use a suppository.  I drink over 100 ozs of fluids every day.  Some days are better than others.  I don't have the bad gas unless I eat certain foods.
I used the yogurt that is suppose to help for a while and it probably did help some.
Good luck - I hope you find the right mix for you.

I saw this week that Dr Oz recommends 1000mg of magnesium for constipation.

I plan to buy some tomorrow :)

Thanks, Char.  I actually do take Mag.  500 MG in the am and 500 in the PM  looks like I need to keep doing what I am doing..increase fluids perhaps.  Sheri

Sheri,

I do the same as you and the Mag seems to be working for me.  I was having terrible constipation and the Miralax just wasn't cutting it.  I also drink A LOT of water and find that helps as well.  When it gets really bad I take a glycerine suppository.

I add Benefiber to all my protein shakes and Miralax when really needed but the Benefiber seems to be working, I love it. You can even add it to water, it has no taste and no texture.

Thanks, Riza.  I'll give Benefiber a try.
