PS consult tommorow

I know Im jumping the gun, put I have a plastic surgery consult tommorow a.m. - I need to get the curiosity out of me!

At my 1 yr check up they gave me the ok to get the consult. I need the time to wrap my brain around what needs to be done, what research to do, questions to ask, how to prepair and what not. Just like the 6 months of diet and excersize many of us needed for WLS!! I need the mental prep  for this too even though it may not be as soon as 6 months.

The surgeon I am seeing is within the hospital I had my RNY and I know he has done work on bariatric patients. Plus all of my medical records are in the same place - PCP, OB/GYN and WLS - much less work for me to do, which is a huge plus

My OB has been documenting since I was 17 about hanging bewbies and at my RNY check ups they've been doing the same along with the tummy. I know I'll have to pay lots out of pocket, but whatever I can get the insurance to pay, I'll probably finance the difference

I'll let ya'll know what happens tommorow.... starting to get anxious!

Nothing wrong with being prepared with all the info you can get!

I was 15 months out when I had my TT... glad you've got the documentation you may need for the insurance to pay.  Be sure your surgeon's office is well experienced with insurance and the documentation needed to get them to pay.  It makes a world of difference.

The surgeon I went to said "yes they'll pay".. another I talked to said "no, they won't"... its all how its documented and presented.

I remember my consult for my TT.. I had NO idea what questions to ask.  You learn as you go and don't be afraid to call afterwards either if you have more questions.

I'm having my BL/BA on 1/24 (have to change my date on my siggy).  I knew the questions to ask and I'm very comfy going into it this time.

As about drains.  I had 3 for the TT... the office I went to here said they don't use them for a TT.  The BL/BA may also require drains - as how long the average is they stay in... makes a WORLD of difference emotionally....

Ask about compression garments (tummy and bewbies)... how long you'll need to be off work, restrictions, lifting, driving, etc.

Ask about the different type of tummy tucks - just a panniculectomy or if you need the vertical (anchor) with muscle tightening.

Its good you're going to see a PS that has experience with bariatric patients.  You may want to get more than 1 consult too...

Good luck - let us know how it goes!

If you have ANY questions, please feel free to PM me.

Thank you so much Jody!!

I didnt realize that some Dr's wont even bother with submitting to insurance - if thats the case, I wont be using their services.

How much of a weight difference was there before and after for your TT?? I remember you had an anchor cut - I am sure I'll need it cause I have fat & skin above the belly button

Drains.... eeeeewwwwww - they gross me out!!!

No weight difference for me.  Dr took off 1 1/2 lbs of skin, but I never saw it on the scale....

I don't think the Dr's WON'T submit to insurance, they just don't know HOW to do it right.  My Dr's office had to resubmit 3 times before the insurance company paid it...

I hate the drains too... unfortunately its a necessary evil....

Have you visited the PS board?  They were a big help and wealth of information for me.  I see its not nearly as active as it used to be though...
