A week after my surgery( Sept 8th) developed a leak in my new stomach and a collasped lung. Back to the hospital. Chest tubes, gastric drains/stents were put in and a feeding tube down my nose.
Two weeks later the feeding tube became blocked. They pulled the feeding tube and put in a pic line and feed me with TPN. Two weeks later I woke up not being able to breath, a trip to the local ER, the pic line leak a weeks of TPN into my chest cavity. Was put on life support and was life flighted over to Seattle, spent two weeks in ICU.

The pic line was pulled and a central line was put in my neck. Spent a couple weeks at home, developed an 104 fever, back to Seattle, Had a staff infection from the central line and pulmonary embolism, several weeks back in the hospital.
I got to come home a few days before Xmas, I am eating pureed food, I've lost 50% of my excess weight.

Val, I'm so glad you posted. I saw you come on line and I hoped you would post. You have been through the dang wringer! But look at you! You're eating and losing like a champ. I certainly hope all the initial complications and medical issues are behind you now. You have had 100 times more than your fair share. May this be your best year ever!

(((hugs)))

Oh, my, Val!  I am so sorry to hear of the rough time you have had.  Hopefully all the bad is behind you and you can look forward to a happy and much healthier future!   This makes me realize that I need to be thankful for the blessing of not having complications.  I looked at your profile, and I am a few years older than you, but our starting weight was about the same.  You just never know how things are going to turn out.  I wish the best for you as you move forward.

Wow - what a struggle from day one. I hope that life settles down now. I know that this will become an old war story with a very happy ending.

I am sorry you had such a rough start.  All of the complications sound terrible.  Best wishes on advancing your diet and the rest of your weight loss.
