Am I doing ok or am I just a slow loser?

I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but just curious. I am almost a month out and only lose about 2 lbs a week. I have started putting more food in my pouch and am trying not to overdo it. It is still hard to determine what each growl or rumble means. Hunger, thirst, or just digestion. Would I do better if I only ate chicken and fish, instead of beans and cheese so much. I don't like beef, except in chili. But have been having too much pork. I am starting to walk 30 mins 3 times a week. Just wondering. Thanks for letting me ramble, and for the advice. Sherry

2 pounds a week is good. I had RNY so I am not very educated about other surgeries. Stick to what your MD and nutritionist has said to eat and you will do fine.

After the first 10 days, i've only lost 1-2 lbs per week. I consider myself a slow loser. It's hard not to see the weight fall off, but I guess it's a slow, long marathon and eventually I will make it to the half way point. Someone said to keep small goals in sight, which have helped me. I am 174 today and am looking forward to being 172, which will be 20lbs down from surgery day. After that, I will focus on being in the 160's...then 162. If i think too far ahead and look at the slow progress, I get depressed, so I can't view the big picture just yet.

Good luck and just stick with it... our bodies are trying to adjust to what the heck we did to it. :)

Me too, i've only lost 1 lb this week, but I'm ok with it. I know I'm doing things right and it will come off eventually. Small goals are a great idea!!

I think you're doing fine. One thing: growling is usually due to acid. Make sure you're on your PPI!
Real meat has more protein, so if you're not getting your 60-80g in, it might be helpful to switch one meal to a fish or chicken if you tolerate it. Make sure you're getting all your fluids in, too. Pork shouldn't be a problem as far as I know. Remember that LWs have less to lose from the beginning, so will lose a little slower than those who have a lot more to lose. :)

2 pounds a week is perfect!!! I know you (and I) would like it to go faster but all your losing now is real fat and that is what you want. If you would fill a bag with 2 pounds of fat (ew!)you would know how much it is. Trust me, it is quit a bit.
Keep up the good work!!

I had RNY but am also averaging between 1-2 pounds a week. I consider myself a slow loser but as I look at it, sometimes losing too fast can cause some serious health problems and as long as I am losing, I am doing good! Keep up what you are doing.

2 pounds is not bad at all.  Are you taking any anti acids?  I noticed that if I dont take mine every morning, I hear and feel my stomach more throughout the day and think that I am hungry when I'm really not.    I also started to eat more chicken or fish instead of beans and other carbs.   I  try to have vegetables soup for dinner at least 3-4 days out of the week.  I had pork once and it made me feel awful so I am stayng away from it but that's just me.

We want to see the scale to drop so badly that we don't realize how much of a blessing is to loose 2 or even 1 pound per week and NOT gain it back.   I had a couple of weeks without any loss, and that's when I learned to love even a 1 pound loss week.  Stay motivated and get moving; exercise helps out alot. Best of Luck!
