Hello all,
My name is Seana, I am married with 3 skin kids 2 fur babies. We have two boys and one girl. They are all mine but my 4 year old son and 13 year old daughter live with their Mother's. My 11 year old son lives with us. I have a very spoiled kitty named Baby and my heart dog is my oafish and loving Great Dane baby named Enzo. I have lived in Southern Louisiana my entire life, so the food...oh the food! LOL. I work for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller and despite the stresses of the job LOVE it. I started having issues with my weight a few years ago, as did my mother at the same age. She has developed diabetes and other health problems. All of which run in our family along with heart disease. I wanted to get under control before it became a problem so I looked into WLS (VSG). My highest weight was 232 and my weight the day of surgery was 226. This morning I weighed in at 191! Woohoo! I my sleeve.

We have a daughter,31,and a son 30. DD has given us three wild DGS's and will be bringing us another DGS from Uganda this year sometime. She is a homemaker, wife, mom, weaver, quilter and DIY'er.
Our son teaches snowboarding in Jackson Hole Wy in the winter and works on the bike trail crw in the summer. He is not married and has no children.
We have 5 dogs and 6 cats though they are not all ours. Several are residents of our animal sanctuary. WWW.sevenblessingsanimalsanctuary.org. It is a sanctuary for older pets who have lost their home due to owner's death, disability,or inability to keep them for other reasons. It is a cage and crate free environment,so they are all around me as I type. One old kitty girl is sitting smack in the middle of the screen si if there are any typos,it is all her fault, lol.

Hello All! How fun to get to know everybody....
I'm a 42 year old Georgia girl. I live in Madison, Georgia. It's about 50 miles east of Atlanta....I was born and raised in Atlanta and am now enjoying life in a "small, rural" town!
I am married to a FABULOUS man (14 years this October) and we have a 10 year old daughter who is busy with gymnastics, cheerleading, horseback riding, tennis, swim team, church and much more! I don't know how people handle the activities of more than one child!
I am a 2nd grade teacher. I've taught every grade from pre-k to 2nd. I've taught 18 years....I took 4 years off when my daughter was born. I LOVE teaching!
I'm also a professional student. I am working on my 3rd graduate degree...hope to eventually have my doctorate (Ed.d) when all is said and done....I'll probably be 60 years old but so be it! I love researching, studying, and writing dissertations! Can we say NERD???
My weight problems didn't start until I left for college when I was 18. I didn't realize it but my mother kept a very tight leash on our eating and nutrition growing up. She cooked daily and didn't keep "junk" in the house. When I got to college....I WENT crazy. Pizza, beer, midnight runs to Waffle House and Krispy Kreme....I left for college about 130 and returned 4 years later at almost 170. Over the last 20 years, I just went up and up!
I had RNY about 6 months ago and although my journey has been slower than some, I've been so pleased with my progress.I feel like a million bucks and I'm not even at goal yet!
I really wouldn't have made it without this website and of course this Lightweight Board!!!

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's story. This is a great thread.
My name is Kim, and I'm 45 years young. I live in Ohio and have been married for 19 years. We don't have children together, but I have a stepdaughter and step-granddaughter whom I adore. I enjoy hanging out on a beach and going to auctions and rummage sales. I'm a financial analyst--I totally enjoy what most would consider to be a boring career.
I've struggled with weight since my teen years. The last time I went to WW, I was only able to stay on plan for 1 1/2 days before things went haywire, and I went off plan. That's when I decided I couldn't diet anymore and was just going to be fat for the rest of my life. Early this year, I realized WLS was an option and got my sleeve on Dec 1.

Hi my name is Miriam and I'm 40 years old (wow... i remember just turning 30 the other day). I've been married for 3 1/2 years and have no children of my own (hubby has two boys 8, 10). I have a multi-poo named Roque....(This has been the 6th time I've had to stop typing and get his ball under the sofa). I love him to death he keeps me busy. Roque was a gift from my husband because I can't decided if I wanted a kid or not (7th time). I'll be 42 years old when I'm able to get preggos..... will see then
I was also the (8th time I've taken the ball away) biggest girl of all my friends. I was always 10-15 pounds heavier. When I graduated high school I gained 60 pounds. I had the well to lose it and dropped down to 118lb. I looked sickly so I went up to 125-130. In my early 30's I started to gain. I was up to 170ish when I got married (as a matter a fact two day before the wedding my wedding dress had to be let go on the sides because it wouldn't zip).
I tried losing weight but I was never able to keep it off for long. In 2009, I was at my heights of 198lbs went to Mexico to get the lap band (lost 30lbs with the band). I had to get it emergency removed in the states just 3 months later due to complications. The doctor that removed the band told me to come back in 8 months to discuss getting a vsg. The time couldn't fly quick enough for me. I had my vsg done (195lb)on Dec. 13, 2010. I've had no complications, no nausea, no vomiting. I'm down 20lbs....and my insurance covered it
I love me sleeve. I'm only 4 weeks out but I fell in love with it the minute I woke up from surgery.
Sorry...I know I'm just rumbling on....It was a pleasure meeting all of you.
Miriam

I'll go...since I've been gone awhile!
My name is Jackie. I'm from NE Pa (North of the Valley, South of the Mountain...just think of that song...stuck in the middle with you!). I'm 35 yrs old. Married for 14 yrs. I have an almost 19 yr old daughter (going on 27) and a 9 yr old son (going on 21). We have 2 cats Nyla (diva cat) who is a Norwegian Forest & Lightning (cat/dog) who is an orange tabby stray. My son has a hamster, Hampy aka Mr Hampy! I am a Teller Supervisor and will celebrate my 12th Anniversary in April!
I studied WLS for about 4 yrs. I had my DS surgery almost 2 yrs from the time I seriously considered it was for me. I've lost my ticker, but my weight the night before surgery was 234. I was in a tight 24, loose 26. Now I'm down to about 140 +/- 5 lbs. I'm in a size 4 jeans/pants, my tops fluctuate between S & M. And I'm proud to say...when I go to the store for clothes, I check out the Juniors section first!! :) I hit my goal in 7 months and have been maintaining since. I amazed myself with my surgery. The goals I set for myself were pretty unrealistic (in my mind). Never thought I would get to them. 130 lbs & size 8 clothing. Figured if I got under 200 lbs and in to maybe a 10/12...I'd be more than happy!! I surpassed that and then some!!!! And I tell EVERYONE that will listen, that I had LS.
My mom had a RN in Dec of 2003. A very close friend had a RN in June 2006. I knew many people that have had LS. My mom started a small local support group. It lasted about 2 yrs, then fizzled out.
If anyone want to ask me any questions....I'm an open book!!!!
Who's up next....

Hi., I'm is Amy, i'm 44 and live Dallas, Texas, I have had knock down drag out fights with my weight all my life .... ok, maybe just since I started my period at age 9. Have lost 90 lbs in my 20s and 30s and have never been able to maintain it. Needed to get motivated again to mount a new campaign and started reading and researching and decided to try a sleeve.
Company I work for has WLS surgery exclusion, so I was self pay. Got sleeved on 12/28. Have had zero problems ,,, getting all my fluid , protein and walking in. Am really excited at the hope I'll be able to maintain my loss this time. 232 was my high weight this time around.
I got married the day I graduated from college in 1988 and have been divorced 2.5 years, no kids, one cat. I work as a software engineer for a web hosting company. Bought a house a year ago and am in the process of painting it ... currently trying to decide just how many colors is to many for one area !!
Bicycle raced in my 30s and like endurance exercise and the gym ... hoping to get back into cycling and reconnect with my "fit" friends. Think its really cool to meet people who have been through the same weight battles and that this forum is a really neat group of people.

Im Ava , I got an RNY in september of 2009. My highest weight was 235 but I had diabetes and HBP , asthma , etc... so insurance covered me though my BMI was only 35 .
Im 5'9 " and 126 lbs now give or take . ( the doctors scale says a bit more ) . I wear a size zero to a four maximum .. and im happy with that .
Im going for a plastic surgery consult on January 21st so hopefuly Il weigh a bit less afterwards and be even tighter in the midsection.
I m kind of a jill of many trades with design being chief among them - Im also an artist and fine jewelry designer and plus - size or missy size clothing consultant . My specialty is - guess- ladies who like to look twenty or thirty lbs less through flattering design whose posture may not necessarily be perfect ... or figures ..kind of like my own .... sometimes I also work as a model and an actor .
Right now im finishing some renovation projects that I could only DREAM about doing pre WLS .... I have so much more energy now .. that will bring me significant rental income forever hopefully .
I started dating after my surgery and met a nice man and got married just before Thanksgiving . We just signed a contract for a beautiful new home....Im just praying we can close on time without incident . My life is 100 % Different and BETTER than it was before surgery ..I mean my DIABETES is in remission for goodness ' sakes .... but so much else has happened too !
Im thrilled to be so much closer to actually achieving my dreams and to FEEL so much better . Surgery was hands down the best thing I ever did for myself .
