What do you know about your pouch?

I'm certainly still learning my pouch.  However, I am either blessed or cursed.  I have had no problems with any food, meats or veggies.  I haven't tried some high sugar fruits like watermelon but so far, no dumping with fat or sugar.  The most sugar I have had is 2 chocolates so maybe it just takes more.  I haven't eaten anything fried but so far, not dumping with fat.
I can eat about the same amount of food no matter what, between 1/2 and 3/4 cup.  I have a wide variety of "symptoms" when I am full but usually recognize it, hiccups, burp, pressure, etc.

Very interesting you posted this TODAY... thanks for doing this - its keeping me from having to make my own post....

Early post op sugar would have me dumping big time, as well as fat.  I didn't tolerate peanut butter well because of the fat - its ok now.

I have problems with skim milk with protein and I get "yucky"... not sure why.  I can drink a glass of milk by itself and have protein with other liquids... go figure...

But today - I pushed the envelope.  I had the munchies. I asked a coworker if he had anything to munch on.  He threw a bag of popcorn covered in sugary stuff and chocolates at me.  Now remember, I haven't been dumping on sugars lately...

So I ate some of it.  Felt kinda yucky (pouch), but figured it was because I ate it fast.  Put it away and i felt better a few minutes later.  About 20 minutes later I ate the REST of it.

Decided to go to zumba but had to come home to get my clothes.  When I got home I started feeling "yucky".  Yes, I knew the classic signs, sweaty, shaky, tired... so yea.  I didn't go to zumba.

Now - I wasn't sure if it was dumping or Reactive Hypoglycemia.  I treated it like RA.  Ate some peanut butter crackers, drank a little milk, ate some peanut butter, etc and felt better.  But I still took a snooze on the couch....

Otherwise, my pouch is a happy camper!!  LOL.. can tolerate pretty much anything.

Very interesting Diana.  I think my pouch tolerates much more than I wi**** did.  There were a few times that I ate certain foods that I almost immediately went to sleep-once was an ice cream cone.  I did not get the shakes, but everything sounded funny kind of hollow like and went to sleep.

I do the mini dumping ocassionally, but not very often.  I don't know if I just have not eaten enough at one sitting or I just don't do the full dumping.  I've had a small slice of pie and just had the shakes a little and the yucky feeling.

I have not thrown up except when I had something stuck and drank some water because I wanted it out!!

My noise starts running when I'm full and I haven't pushed that issue to see what would happen.
If I do overeat it is junk like chips or crackers that go down so easy and evidently don't take up much room.

It is so funny that sometimes I can feel things move through my pouch and sounds like I can hear it moving all the way through my body.  It can get very loud sometimes.

Sometimes I think I have an iron pouch....

At a little over a month out, I have a healthy respect for my pounch but that does not mean that all goes well. I keep trying to eat two foods that I cannot keep down: fish fillets and buffalo jerky. Both are cleared by my RD. Every time I throw up, I say that I will not try this again for a month or two. Yet, I try again (what is the definition of insanity?).

I have not tempted the fates with high sugar. I know my pouch would not like it, although I did have some greek yogurt once that was pretty high. I want to kick my sugar addiction.

Generally, my pouch likes moist and soft foods. Sometimes my pouch likes turkey chili, sometimes not. Last night it did not! It totally loves tuna salad, crabmeat salad, and shrimp. Luckily, I do too!

Interesting post idea.
My stomach has evolved rapidly from picky pouchy to tuffy tote bag!  Sadly,  it can hold a lot and it's tough as nails.  So far the worst reaction I have gotten from eating high sugar/fatty food was a case of the sleepys. Here are some other things I've noticed:
-Eggs and chicken require a little extra chewing but once they are down, they leave me feeling full the longest.
-Staying hydrated is important or my tote gets all dry and then it is in no mood for food.
-Early on it was important to stretch each meal to 30 minutes so as  not to rush and eat too much. But lately 30 minutes might be too long. My food gets digested and then it's ready for a second helping!
-My tote likes very very cold water to drink, preferably Brita filtered.

-With RNY many foods taste different to me now.... usually not as tasty
That's about all I can think of right now.

My pouch was here for a short vacay, but is gone. So, I think anyway! I never had many problems or limitations. About two times during the first 6-8 months I ate too much. Mind you, I don't think I ate more than I did at similar times, but it was that one bite too much, and it was excuciating. I wanted to throw up soooo badly but I couldn't. Just had to wait for it to pass.

Also, about two times when I had chicken, I got that "it's stuck feeling". I thought I was going to die from pain. Again, it just had to run it's course. I think there is an urge to drink water when this happens to help it get through- DONT! It gets MUCH worse!

I don't dump- but I have about twice. No reason why. I had eaten the same foods before, I have eaten more sugar. The worst was when I had raisinettes at the movie theatre. By the time I got home, I thought I was going to have a siezure. I ate some protein, which helped. At Christmas I ate all the cookies- never had a problem except I felt like crap. I think everyone does.

Wish I had more restriction, but I don't. I think my stoma is enlarged. Guess I'm going to have to find some self control! Working on it.

I know  regarding my sleeve, all bets are off.  Sometimes I can only eat 3 bites other times I can eat 3 ounces.

It hates plain water and protein shakes.

It will not tolerate dairy without lactaid tablets.

Sometimes certain things work one day but not another.

It does not appreciate being filled too quickly.

I can not drink fluids with meals, even if I take just a sip to clear my mouth it hurts and sits in my chest.

It likes all types of meat except for chicken, white meat is a no go, but thighs usually work.

It does not care for microwaved foods.

I know what it does not like because  it is very quick to tell me.  I get neauseated and occasionally will throw up.  I feel icky when I try to do protein shakes.  They just sit in my stomach.  Other things will just feel like they are sitting in my chest.  Those are the things that usually come up.

I know what it loves- simple carbs, those never give me any trouble at all!

I am looking forward to when it is completely healed and we have a better understanding of eachother!

no leftovers especially not meats

no egg yolks but mostly eggwhite omelets are ok

fats and sugar together equal a kick -ass dump -shaking , sweats lie down ow ow ow and SLEEP

water is still way to easy to underdrink

salty snacks like pretzels or an everything bagel make me feel bloated and lousy the next day

if i eat too much or too fast i SNEEZE uncontrollably and sometimes i have to lie down ( ow ow ow ) its conspicuous and EMBARASSING

dry meats eaten too fast cause BIG problems

fat free sauces stews and soups are wonderful !

its way too easy to forget to eat salads and enough veggies because of the size of the pouch

whole grain bread can be eaten but its fattening and expands in the tummy causing sickness

I still have to remember to eat slowly not INHALE , to chew chew chew each bite and ut the fork down between bites ..and NOT TO DRINK while eating ...

I can't do sugar ..I cant even do ASPARTAME ..... or I dump TERRIBLY . Im so GRATEFUL !! I shy away from most desserts and sweet snacks now instinctively .... NEVER thought id see THAT day
