Hi LWs,
I'm feeling the need for a new challenge, now that our Holiday Challenge is behind us.  So I was wondering if you'd like to join me in plotting for a new challenge to bring us into the warmer weather that awaits us in spring?
The first day of spring is March 20th, though this challenge could have a more general timeline, like "in the springtime, I would like to have..." or, if you prefer a harder date, you could say "by March 20th, I would like to..." etc.
So, LWs - what's your Springtime Challenge?

For my Springtime Challenge, I would like to reach my goal of 130.  Any time in the spring will do.

That's 15 lbs away.

Time to change my signature!

Hey girl! I missed you guys so much! I'll join the challenge. I don't want to change my weight, but I have been cutting back on the extreme cardio sessions, and started working on strength training. So my goal is to build the muscle groups I have neglected and continue with the new exercise program. (Also to continue to maintain my weight)

We missed you right back, Shannon!

So I have a question for you:  what is your goal weight, now?  Is it 96, 99 - ish?  I mean, what weight are you trying to maintain?  Where do you feel most comfortable?  I'm just curious, because I know how much your body loves to lose, and you seem to be well in touch with what it wants.  :)

Targeting the muscles you haven't been targeting sounds like a great goal, too.  Please keep us posted on how you're doing that!

I want to maintain right where I am. I am super comfortable with myself. I dipped down to 93 a couple of times, and it is amazing how big of a difference those couple of pounds make. I looked very sickly and started getting those comments again. At 96, I am fine. 95 is the lowest healthy BMI for my height. I have had to up my calories a lot to stay where I am.

I've noticed that the more I build muscle, the less saggy my skin looks. That's why the new goal of more strength training. I still do short cardio sessions for heart health, but I don't have any more fat to burn.

by spring time I would love to get out of the "obese" range! Not sure what weight that is because I am still considered obese at this point and am ready to be a "normal" at some point.

Hi Stacey,
Well...I consulted www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/bmi_tbl.pdf (a handy dandy BMI chart from NIH.)  You can count yourself at "normal" once you hit 24.9, which would be once you hit under 124 lbs.
  Hope that helps!

Wow, that is a good deal off so I had better get my butt in gear and start working it off.

Thank you for this info, I am hanging on to the website.

Sorry, Stacey, I misread your post.  (I couldn't tell what your CW is because your signature's cut off at the bottom).  Anyway, "overweight" for you at 59" would be 147.  That's a BMI of 29.9-ish.

So I guess your Springtime Challenge is 147 lbs. then?

Hope that helps!

By spring I would like to stay at 140...not up or down...140 is a perfect weight for me...I am beginning to think of myself as a maintenance person though I have no idea how to do that...dieting has become second nature to me...the thought of having to eat MORE is NOT welcome...I don't want to maintain my weight by eating foods I consider triggers for me...bread...rice...pasta...however I have no idea how to maintain in a healthy way which will not upset my blood sugar etc...Shannon maybe you have some insight into this and can give me advice...I don't want to go back to "cheat / diet" lifestyle...and with the heavy cardio workouts I wonder how it will work out..any feedback?SEAVIEW
