Does it completely go away after surgery or has anyone continued with it?

I thought it was gone but lately I have been tossing and turning again, starting to wonder if it just never went away.

Mine went away, thank goodness. I HATED that machine!!!    Have you been re-tested to see where your levels are?   good luck!  Cindy

It can go away after surgery but only if it is weight related sleep apnea...there are many reasons for sleep apnea...excess weight...and the way your nose is constructed....also the back of your throat muscles can be weak and that causes prolapse when you sleep....so I would ask the doctor...
good luck...and if you have a CPAP  ...use it...SEAVIEW

I am going to talk to my dr about it, next visit. I do not have a machine yet, I had them hold off until I had my surgery to see if it would go away. Thanks

I have only had the C-PAP for about 3 months (found the apnea through pre-op exams..) and I am really hoping it is a temporary thing.  There is a very good chance that it is weight related, but my Sleep Dr wants me to be about 9 months out from surgery and then we will do another sleep study...so I am stuck with it for the time being.  That being said, I really do have a much better quality of sleep and feel much better and more focused during the day...so it is kind of a trade off. Oh, and my poor husband sleeps much better too, he says it is like having a white noise machine on beside him instead of a Diesel truck! Funny man...

Hi -I have been on the CPAP machine for 10 yrs. I went for 1 week without it and my sleep dr wanted me to do the pulsometer overnight. My oxygen levels dropped to below 80 most of the night. That said he told me I could do oxygen at night or stay on the machine. I opted for the machine.May never be able to stop as my whole family has sleep apnea and either a bi-pap or c-pap machine. I just think of it as my friend .......lol

Stacey, like the others said, it depends on the type you have.  Mine was obstructive and it has gone away.  I had to keep having my pressure reduced as I lost weight and finally could not sleep with it on because it kept waking me up.  I loved my CPAP machine before I lost weight and had a hard time giving it up even when I didn't need it.

Good luck and I hope you are not sleeping for some other reason.

I haven't called the dr yet to see if mine is resolved.  But...it does seem that the machine is more uncomfortable than it used to be and I wake up more.  How do you adjust the pressure?

Janet, I had to take mine in to the place I bought it from and the doctor had to write a prescription to them to turn it down.  I think it depends on the type of machine you have, some might be self-adjusting.

Don't forget, everyone tosses and turns once in a while. I don't have sleep apnea, but I found that age was really messing with my sleep. I now have drugs I can take if I need them. I took them for about a month and that seems to have reset my sleep clock but I d have relapses.
