One Week Intro Plus Music Request
Hi, Ive been lurking with an occassional post, but I figured I'd say hello for real since they new year has started. Today was one week post op (sleeve) for me and I was down 7.6 pounds. Wow, that is just so unbelievable to me.
I've fought with my weight all my life ... after a summer of weigh****chers, I started high school at 140. By the time I graduated from college I was 240. I dieted/exercised myself down to 150, for about 15 minutes :-) About 10 years later, I found myself at 240 again and dieted/exercised myself down to 150, up to 200, down to 140 (with phentermine) , I held it to less than 180 for a few years, but hit 232 again this year. 'So far, I'm totally liking not being hungry ... I'm doing pretty good, not much pain and I've been able to hit my protein/fluid goals the last few days.
Was out walking today and thinking about putting together a playlist of motivating music:
My thoughts so far are 8 Mile by enimen, I will Survive by gloria gayner and Up by Shania Twain
Ok, so what music motivates you to move

Congratulations on your surgery! You are doing awesome!
Your story sounds like many of us....UP and DOWN, UP and DOWN.....mostly UP for me. I left for college at 130 and graduated 4 years later at 175......then there was marriage, baby, etc. It was a constant spiral UP and DOWN....my poor body! No more though...
Nice to meet you!!

HI! Nice to 'meet' you! I've been up and down a lot too, but the downs never got me quite as low as the last, etc. I LOVE my sleeve! I've never been able to run, even in gym class in school, but now I am a runner! Totally hooked. The more weight I lost, the easier it got. I swear I lost better because of the running. Here's my playlist:
Plain White T's: Big Bad World
Seether: Rise Above This
Foo Fighters: Everlong
30 Seconds to Mars: From Yesterday
Train: Save Me San Francisco
Buckcherry: Everything
Gin Blossoms: Hey Jealousy
Sixx A.M.: Life is Beautiful
Fall Out Boy: Sugar, We're Going Down
Seether: Fake It
Plain White T's: Natural Disaster
Kings of Leon: Be Somebody
Hinder: Homecoming Queen
Hinder: Get Stoned
Craig Morgan: Little Bit of Life
Tim McGraw: Where the Green Grass Grows
Shania Twain: Man! I Feel Like a Woman
Train: Hey Soul Sister

Hey Shannon, I totally agree that running is best thing I've ever done for weight loss. At one of my lighter weights I bicycle raced and rode 10,000 miles one year ... I still needed to run to change my weight. I think music and working your way up slowly make running doable. I'm waiting for it quit hurting when I walk uphill, before I try running again. Thanks for the music suggestions
I definitely had to build up to running. I bought an elliptical machine pre-op, but it was hard on my joints (the opposite of what they say) because I am so short and the ellipticals are designed for normal height people. I had a totally weird stance to be able to do it. So I sold it and bought a treadmill. I started walking, built up speed, built up incline, length of time, etc. Then one day I decided to try outside and I could barely jog a mile. I signed up for a 5K a couple of months from then and started training. I made a mistake though and didn't do much (like almost none) strength training. So I have lost flexibility and strength along with burning body fat. So now I have cut back the running and started working hard on the strength training. I do short runs and walks on the treadmill most days of the week and one long run.
Welcome, Amy!
I set up Pandora stations with the following seed songs:
Roman's Revenge (Nicki Minaj/Eminem) - the language is terrible, I know, but the beat is perfect
Let's get it started (BEPs)
Drop it like it's hot (Snoop)
Crazy in Love (Beyonce)
Please don't stop the music (Rihanna)
Drop the Pressure (Mylo)
Just for the Kick (Coldcut)
