Lightweights and VSG
I had a VSG and I got to a normal weight at 6.5 months and my lowest weight at 10.5 months. I've maintain with a certain range for about 1.75 years now.
Unlike a lot of people, my GERD got better with surgery but it's still an issue for me. I was off my PPI for 6 months but I'm back on it now. OTOH, taking a PPI actually WORKS which it never did pre-op.
I don't have any big issues maintaining my weight. The worse thing that happens to me is that I gain 3 pound or so during the "off season" but once I get back into training for races (triathlons mostly), it falls back off. This is supposed to be normal for triathletes and endurance athletes but it freaks me out every year.
