Im gonna be a Grandma.   Drs office just called.  17 yr old daughter is definitely pregnant.    Definitely not the life plan I had for her but I guess we'll deal with it.   Everything happens for a reason.  We will continue to love her and support her thru this.  The baby's dad is in the picture.  He goes to college and works 2 part time jobs.  He says he will step up to the plate to support her both financially & emotionally.   And I believe he will.  He's a good kid.  Daughter will finish her education and continue working part time.  I truly appreciate all the prayers & good thoughts.  Cindy

Cindy- I am a Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwife, I often deal with parents who are confronted with their childs unexpected pregnancy.  Glad to see that you have a positive attitude about it, as having a supportive family is the one thing that these girls need the most.  I have been forced a few times to pull parents out of the room and explain that I could have just told them that their child had an inoperative brain tumor.  So you are right this is not the worst thing in the world.  Besides babies are so cuddly and cool, I love being a grammie.  Congrats  Sharon

I don't usually post here -- but I got pg with my 1st child at 17.  And, things did work out.  Not with the baby-daddy... but I finished my education, both HS and college, and eventually married a wonderful guy who cared for my kids as well as our kids.

Hope your daughter is feeling well & that her pregnancy goes smoothly.

It may not have been the plan, but every baby is a precious gift from God. She is blessed to have all the support. It will be hard for her, but with determination and good support she can still reach her life goals and be a good mother.

I was also 17 when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. No it did not work out well with her father ( and still is a very heated discussion) but I finished highschool and am now continuing my education. I married a wonderful man who has accepted her and our children and things are great. We have been married 10 years now and I still believe it was the best decision ever. It will be ok, she sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders and you have a wonderful outlook on it. It will turn out ok.

Thanks ladies.   Its encouraging to hear your stories.  My biggest concern is her education.  She's determined she's going to still attend college for nursing.   Cindy

If she is determined, she will do it! I made sure I got my CNA license when I graduated so I could take care of her.

Good for you Cindy for being the supportive parent.  So many aren't.  I agree with the finish the education train of thought.  I hope everything works out for her.  Best Wishes

My daughter was 18 and just finished her GED when she found out she was pregnant. I worried but it has worked out. Now she has three girls and her boyfriend has a boy and a girl. Last week we all went to dinner for my birthday. Talk about a handful but she is doing it and the kids are all doing good.
My grandkids are my heart. Everything happens for a reason.
