I found out about this forum last night. Wow, what a nice difference in tone!

I am four weeks post op. I just crossed into the ONEderlands on NYE. I go back to work tomorrow 27 pounds lighter and off all of my diabetes meds. I am so grateful that I had access to this life-saving surgery. It is not always easy, but definitely worth it.

OH has been so important in my recovery. I hope I can be a resource and source of support to all of you, and look forward to learning from you.

I haven't been on any other board, so I only know about the support, kindness, and humor here. Welcome. I am off my diabetes meds and have had normal blood sugar since my surgery. What a gift for our health.

Congrats on being off the meds!  It is such a great benefit and so early in the process.  It is truly a gift.

Hi Amy! We are surgery buddies...I had mine on 11/29 and just hit Onederland today!!

So happy for you...great job!

Welcome to the LW board...it is wonderful here!!

Just wondering if you are having any challenges at this stage?

I just got to where I can go with 1 shake most days and get the rest of my protein from food. It seems like I eat drink all day but don't have any room for fruits and veggies. May need to do 2 shakes so I can get a little bit of healthy carbs in. This is the main thing I need to work on.

Again....CONGRATS!!!

Hi, Char,

It is great to find someone at my stage so we can compare notes.  My biggest challenge has been keeping foods down.  I am supposedly allowed to eat general foods but found I could not handle most dense items (like fish fillets) so I stick pretty much to soft and moist foods.  I did discover today that my pouch likes Buffalo Jerky, which has 11 g of protein per ounce.

I know what you mean about room for veggies and carbs.  I try to get one veggie in a day and if I cannot, I drink a low sodium V-8 juice.

Congrats on reaching the Onederlands!   WTG!  Onward and downward!
