OT hysterectomy & bladder problems
on 1/2/11 5:20 am
I know this is not wls related, but thought somebody here might help. I had hysterectomy and virginal repair 11/9. Now I have serious bladder leakage. Dr has prescibed Vericare and Ditropan. All they do is cause dry mouth and skin. I am still leaking. Dr says no surgery will help me.
Anybody have any idea of medicine, exercise, website, doctor, etc. I am sick of wearing pads. I am too young for this.

If you're not seeing a urologist for this problem you should definitely see one or a DIFFERENT one. Have you had a urogram done? It's a radiological study where the urologis****ches the bladder fill and does a series of exercises to see what causes the leaking they then decide if there is a surgical procedure that will help you based on the mechanics of your leaking. There is hope for you yet my dear! They have stimulators they can put in, or bladder lifts....never let them tell you never!
PS.....ARE YOU DOING KEGALS? YOUR BLADDER MAY STILL BE WEAK FROM BEING CATHETERIZED. I KNOW IT TOOK SEVERAL MONTHS FOR ME TO STOP LEAKING AFTER BEING CATHED.

My DH has a pace maker--talk about medical devices.
I wonder if eight weeks is long after surgery to be examined by a urologist.

Heather - I had incontinence before WLS and losing weight took care of it - but I have got it back... much to my disappointment.. So I'm on Toviaz... same dry eyes, nose, skin issue... but it works.
HW-218/SW-208/CW-126/ Lowest Weight-121/Goal-125 - hit 8/23/09/Height-5'3"
Regain 30 lbs from 2012 to 2016 - got back on track and lost it. Took 8 months.

Jody, after reading about Toviaz, it sounds like it is time-released (once a day, do not cut or crush.) After RNY, I was told not to take time-released. What do you think, is Toviaz time-released?
I tried Vericare. It is time-released. It did not work for me. I was changed to Ditropan--it is not working either.
Just wondering about Toviaz?

I really do not know where to turn. It has been eight weeks hence my hysterectomy. Really I should wait a few more weeks to see a urologist. I know my body needs to heal. Being patient is not easy
Thanks for your help.
