Hi there, I wanted to stop by and wish everyone a good new year. I learned many powerful lessons during  my first nine months post op, particularly on how I sabotage myself. I had a great appointment with my team and have lost four pounds this past week. I look forward to seeing where I am on my year anniversary.

Hope you are all having fun tonight. We have a tradition where we eat lobster on New Years Eve, so I'm headed to the kitchen now!

Lobster???? I'm there. I wish I had that tradition. I haven't had lobster in years.
Good luck in the new year!

I grew up in Newburyport Mass, right on the ocean, so I grew up surrounded by lobster. It was always a special treat because of the price. So, we continue that tradition on our anniversary, my birthday and New Years. We are pretty frugal folks, but we do splurge on this. Also, I work at a culinary institute so I can get them for a discount. I also have a former  who is a lobsterman in Maine and he's offered to send me lobster for free!. However, he is still in school, and he was behind in his classes, so of course I couldn't accept them. I told him when he graduates I can take him up on his offer.

One thing we did differently cooking them tonight was to put in a cup of white wine, two carrots chopped, one onion chopped, two bay leaves, fresh parsley, two ribs of celery chopped and salted the water. It makes the lobster taste better, more depth in the flavor. The reserve liquid I can make into a stock for seafood based soups.

Oh man, I'll come for leftovers.  That was my main reason to go North this past summer, the seafood.  Yum.
Come back when you can, I miss you when you are gone.

Thanks. I'll try to be around more often. I only have one job going into the Spring semester rather then three. I've also struggled with being a slow loser and sabotaging myself and it was hard for me to see others losing weight during my battle, but I think I'm good now to be back on track.
Thanks for your kind words.

Where did you go when you came north?

We didn't make it to Vermont.  We made out way up the east coast to Maine, then back down by the lakes.  I would have loved to have had more time.  3 weeks wasn't long enough.

The best time to come to VT is late September through the second week of October if you ever get the chance to see Fall Foliage.

Congratulations on your 4 pounds!!!  That's awesome!  I too struggle with the "slow losing" but all in all it doesn't matter HOW LONG it takes to goal--just that we get there!!!

Happy New Year!  All the best in 2011!!
