Day 1 5DPT.....Let's get it started!!
I'm not sure how many of you are doing this with me but HERE WE GO!
I stayed at a friends last night as I had a few drinks........so first thing I do this morning without even thinking is grab a chocolate covered pretzel!!........LOL About half way through I realized what I was doing and threw it in the garbage......LOL
So on my way home I picked up a Northern LiteLatte from Caribou......Halle and I went to bed @ 3am and she was up by 8.......so the coffee was NEEDED! I'm sure it isn't exactly what she considered part of her "liquid" phase but it's a part of mine this morning! When I got home I added a scoop of Designer Whey Powder to it and turned it into a delicious protien drink! I also stopped and bought the HUGEST bottle of water I've ever seen.......LOL I have been really bad about H2O intake since I was about 4 months out.........I wanna do this as right as possible so I'll be drinking my 101.4 fl oz bottle daily......lol....I know it's more than she says but I figure I can also use some of it in my other "food"....
I never made it to the store yesterday so I'll be making a trip today so I can make the Pumpkin Sausage Soup!
Good Luck everyone!

There is a link to the recipe! It is a "low-carb"! The 5DPT is not intended to be carb-free, it helps you to get rid of the bad carbs from your diet and incorporate healthy carbs. while focusing on protein!
HMMMM......sounds vaguely familiar to the diet we are supposed to be following post op......LOL I like to think of it as a reset button!......LOL
I'll be changing the recipe to make it MUCH healthier too.......I'll be using homemade turkey stock, almond milk instead of heavy cream (I don't want to be putting that stuff into my body!) and I'll replace the sour cream with greek yogurt!
I hope you have a great new year!

Hey sunshine!! I hope to give you all some great motivation to complete your 5DPT....
As you know I did this the week of Christmas with Day 5 being Christmas Eve....well, I did this with the same focus as I did when I was just beginning this journey and let me tell you...I su*****redible restriction and my body is so much back in tune with the process its crazy. I think I can literally eat only 1/2 of what I did before the test.
I have been pushing protein first and doing low carb and I have to say, I am totally impressed and pleased!!! I have been posting in Menu & Miles if you want to see my average daily intake. I am at 800'ish calories and pushing right around 100g protein. And I have been doing great on my water intake.
I wish the same great results for you all and stay focused on the goal of the test...and that is to get back to basics...
I hope this helps you all push through. Keep up the great job guys and I'm cheering you on!!!!

Diana you're so sweet! Thanks for the encouragement! I'm finding this to be easier than I expected! I still haven't made it to the store to buy the few things I need to make that soup.....LOL
Did you try any of the recipes they have on the website? Any recommendations? BTW.... I hate fish........LOL I'm going to do the Parmesan Tuna Patties and the Cajun Shrim.......I still haven't decided what to do for Day 5.....Any suggestions?

Hey buddy...it is much easier than it looks. I did not try any of the recipes on the site. I actually just bought the soup in hand creamed soups and had that for my meals. In between meals, I had sf premade jello cups (topped with whippage...lol) Then of course I would have my protein shakes. That really tied me over good. I even did the liquids for 3 days just because I was going to be very busy and wasn't ready to "plan" meals...It worked out splendid for me.
On day 5 I just ate regular protein foods as before. I did cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon slices (I can tolerate bacon) and I think that day I had 1/4 of a burger patty. Like a slider size...lol very small...
Have fun :) can't wait for the progress update tomorrow!!
