Hail to the most knowledgeable LW Gods!!
HEHE, knew it may get your attention LOL....
Seriously, need all knowledgeable LW Gods to respond to the best of their ability.
As most everyone knows I have been fighting this awful knee pain ( ever since I fell through the deck) it has definately moved to a constant ach and is very painful.
I know the rule of no ibuprophen so I have been taking tylenol every 6 hours for the pain. ( I hate pain)
Would it hurt any if I took 1 ibuprophen with my nexium ( nex about an hour in advance) to help with the swelling and inflammation?
I am just not sure, I will be headed to the Dr on Monday but as of now I just want a little relief.
( I do have it braced also to help)
Thank you everyone
Stacey

I can't give you a good answer about the NSAID.
Have you tried alternating heat and cold?
Capsasan?
Other Ben Gay kind of stuff.
Have any pain killers left from surgery?
When the health food stores open again, there are several rub on things and some homeopathic sprays (in your mouth, not on your knee)
Hope you get relief soon.

Price recommened Capsasan...I agree...it is the best! You have to be careful with it....wash your hands well after use becuase if you happen to touch your eyes....it burns like he11. You can get it over the counter.
Another option may be to ask the doctor for a lidocaine patch...those are pretty awesome for localized pain.

It's not because it rests on the stomach lining. If your doctor explained it to you that way, he apparently does not understand how NSAIDS work. Or how your pouch functions, for that matter.
There is an opening at the bottom of your pouch known as a stoma. When you take a pill with a drink of water, it just goes right through the pouch into your small intestine (unless there is a lot of food in the pouch, then it might sit in there a while, but cushioned by chewed up food).
NSAIDS are systemic drugs. When they enter your blood stream, they make the lining of the stomach thin. This is what can cause ulcers. That's why we should not take NSAIDS in any form - IV, shot, anything. If it was about the pill sitting in the stomach, IV or shots would be OK. Those don't sit in the stomach. But it's not about that. It's about it getting into the blood stream.

One probably won't hurt, but it might. Some surgeons say an occasional NSAID is fine. Others, like mine, strongly feel the risk is just too great. Some people use them occasionally with no problem. Others have developed ulcers after just one dose.
You gotta decide if the risk is worth it to you. I usually ask myself if my back pain is worse than an ulcer might feel. Usually it's not.
Have you been putting ice on it?
