Fitness Challenge - December 28

Hi Diana!

I'm back from my free training session at the fancypants gym.  

He was wowed by the strength of my legs!  He kept saying, "all the other women konk out after 2 reps of these [squat combinations]" but not me!  

My arms are another story altogether.  They are soooo weak!  But they didn't have to carry around 231 lbs!  And dance keeps the legs very strong, too.  

Anyway, it was a good session, but I don't have another $1000 to sign up for the next 10 sessions.  :)

I'm planning to go tomorrow and Thursday, then probably not much for the rest of the week, since I'm getting out of dodge for New Year's.  NYC on New Year's Eve is quite something...

Hi twinkle toes :) How did the fancypants gym look?? I bet you wowed the trainer...did you tell him you are a dancer and that's why you got legs of steel!! 

I can think of lots to do with $1000 and getting tortured by another is not one of them...besides you got your vacation coming up right?? 

NYC is always fun to watch on tv for NYE...I think I would only do it once in person if I had the money to do so...

The fancypants gym is insane.  It's 1000x more gorgeous than any other I've ever seen.  Crazy!  It looks like a combination of an old private club (lots of dark, real wood in the locker areas) and an a-list Manhattan night club (in the workout areas.)  It's mostly lit by disco balls, the walls are black, the equipment has virtual trainers and ipod hookups so you can bring your own video (or use regular tv).  There's a giant disco ball (like 20 ft by 20 ft) on a platform in the middle of the club where the dj stands.  (Yes.) And then everyone who goes is in great shape, so lots of eye candy for those who like that sort of thing...

Too bad it's so expensive!  Actually, they're running a good deal right now ($99/mo x 12 mos) but I don't think I'll do it.  I'm back in the dance studios as soon as they open, and my building has a gym, anyway. Not fancypants, but at $350/year, significantly cheaper!  I'm not a big fan of gyms in general, since I prefer workouts outdoors.  I'm back as soon as we get rid of the super cold and snow!
