Fitness Challenge - December 28
Thanks, Rosa!
The thing about my story is that I was really, really fit before surgery. I love and crave exercise. I have done Taekwondo for 15 years, almost 16. I also have been training with kettlebells for over 2 years and am planning on taking a instructor certification next summer. The thing that was holding me back in both of these was my size. I can't do a flexed arm hang, required for the kettlebell cert. I don't compete in TKD because my weight gets in the way. I was actually slender when my husband and I met, so I know what I used to be able to do as a thin person. I'm really excited to get back to that person!
I like to describe myself as a fit person stuck in a sumo suit that has a broken zipper, and this surgery is the repair that will allow me to unzip that suit and be the me I am inside. :)
I better stop before I get weepy again. lol

Hey Dianna,
I am also going to go for 45 minutes elliptical tonight.
I've been in a funk all day. Spent 2 hours at the eye doctor last night having a narrow angle glaucoma episode. Very scary. Eye pressure was high enough to cause blindness if they didn't get the pressure down. It was in the 50's. So, today I'm all medicated and using eye drops all day. Tomorrow morning I see a specialist who might laser some extra drainage holes in my eyes to prevent this from happening again. I guess having your eyes drilled is better than going blind, but I'm sure not looking forward to it.
Anyway, I figure the elliptical is a good choice for me today. Just got to get on it!

Aww thanks. It's actually happening because the shape of my eye is kind of flat, so not enough room between the iris and the cornea for any kind of extra pressure build up when the duct gets blocked. I think the risk does increase with age though....I'm no spring chicken....43! :)
Glad to hear you have heard of some success stories. At least I already had the week off.
I feel fine now. It just happens every week or so.

those eye problems sound really scary. I'm swinging for you for sure.
I did nothing today, except the horses. Finally it has started warming up and I'm headed to Curves in the morning. Hopefully by Thurs, I will be able to start working Chili again since he has a competition on Jan 8,9 and needs to be a good bit fitter.
