Check in time! What size are you?

Hi Everyone!

Who knew that such a game could be fun!  But if you're up for it, let's play!!!

WHAT SIZE ARE YOU?

I've noticed a few posts wondering about sizes.  Since they all seem to be different, I thought I'd make a suggestion:

Check out a store's size guide for help.  Many have them online.  I usually take my measurements before going anywhere, then check to see what size that makes me in the store.  It saves a ton of time!

Check these places out, and by the time you're finished measuring, you might have a sense of your size...

Gap, Inc (includes Banana Republic, Old Navy, etc)

Express

Victoria's Secret

Brooks Brothers (since Ava designs for them...)
Click here for entire size chart (includes men's)
bottoms

NY & Co. (you might need to click the "size chart" tab on the right)

Loft

I've skipped lots of stores, but if you want to add one of your favorites, please do!

My measurements:

Waist: 28
Hips: 37
Seat: 38
Thighs: 23
Inseam: 31
Sleeve (arm on hip): 28
Bust: 35

Fit Ratings Guide:

* - 1 star - not a good size model for me; too many fit elements (waist, hip, etc.) are off
** - 2 star - pretty good size model for me; most fit elements work for me
*** - 3 star - great size model for me; I should buy everything here because it'll fit well!

(My ratings on each store are coming...)

OK:  here are my ratings!

Gap *
Tops: might fit ok (all arms are too long) in Petite Small

Tops: 6 would fit great
Jeans:  6 would work well
Slacks/Skirts:  8 is ok
Dresses:  ??? (somewhere between 6 & 8)

Express *
Tops:  8/29/M - seems like a good fit
Bottoms:  waist is 8, hips are 4!  (bad fit model for me!)

Loft **
Tops:  8 Petite
Bottoms:  between 6 and 8 Regular (which is true - I bought 6s, but they are snug!)

Victoria's Secret *
Somewhere between 6 and 8

BCBG ***
6/S - size model is great for me (lines up with my experience)

Brooks Brothers ***
6 - size model is great for me (which lines up with my experience)

WOW u have it down to a science!!!   i love shopping but I've never been so detailed in my research!   I started this journey at size 14/16  jeans and now I am fitting into my 12/13 jeans.  I was an XL in shirts and now I'm wearing Large.  I am just under 2 months so I think its pretty good so far.  I really have not been good at measuring myself, so I should do this so i can check the sites and see my true site and best store match!  Thanks!

That's amazing progress!!!  The ladies on here taught me that as you get smaller, you drop sizes faster.  That's fun!

Let us know how your exploration of the measurements and sites goes for you!

I shop in thrift stores mainly. Once in a while at Wal Mart. I hate trying things on but I have to since I am in transition.
Last week I tried on some jeans and they were a size 10. They were a touch snug but I would have bought them but they were too long (a common problem for me). I bought a pair of Levi's 501s. I love those. My last pair was a size 36/30 and this time I got a size 34/30. Still seems pretty big for me but they are mens pants. I think they size their womens pants differently. I still wear an ex large top since my boobs are so big
Oh, and I bought a bra, size 36 D. I had been wearing a 44 DD before.

Nice!  Those are amazing improvements!!!

OK.  But will you give the measurements a try?  See where you line up?  I promise it will be helpful to you!

I don't have my measurements...but I am a size 6 pants and because I have very little bewbies left...I try to wear a 8/10 or M size shirt. I have worn 4/6's but I am too self conscious for that...brain still see FAT GIRL....

My bra size is 32 or 34 B simply because the cup sizes are too small for A's...but the B's give me room to stuff if needed...lol

That's where I'm at. If I lost the last 10 pounds...who knows what size...4??? eeeps

Lovely Diana!

But do you have a measuring tape?  Because, if you just stand in front of a mirror, you can take them.

This little exercise is very eye-opening, I think.  (In a great way!)

I think it will help with the reality/brain thing to which you refer.  Numbers are numbers, facts are facts.

I have a feeling that if you check some of these size guides you'll find yourself appropriately in a few size 4s...

Awe...I love you!!! You are soooooo sweet!! hahaha

I will take my measurements tomorrow. I just ate my dinner an hour ago and feel very FLUFFY!!! Sooooo I'll get some "facts" for ya...

It's funny you mention I could be a 4...some 6's are big on me and some so snug...depends on where I shop but I shop cheap so...that's what I get...inconsistent sizes. Being a size 6 from 24/22 a year ago is eye-opening for sure... but what a wonderful journey eh??
