PlicketyCat is our off-grid LW sister living in Alaska. She and her hubby are already dealing with -40 degree temps in temporary housing (some kind of winterized tent) for the second winter. They're working on the cabin in spite of the cold and hoping it warms back up to -10 so they can get more work done. Her hubby mentioned having to take Plickety to Fairbanks to the hospital for almost a week. Turns out it was a stomach bug, stress and dehydration.

lol Nor have I! Zero degrees is ok for a few minutes but I totally draw the line totally at -10. Sounds like she's fairing pretty well except for the stomach bug and dehydration. She knows how to take care of herself with vitamins and the right foods. The stomach bug and stress probably upset the balance.

They're awesome!

The cold aside, everything about this is just the absolute opposite of my limited experiences. I've hardly ever been camping (and when I did, it was on someone's lawn.)
