3 days out update

I am three days out after my surgery on Monday.  I  have been resting, sipping and walking.  I was told that the surgery went very well.  The hospital was great.

Right now I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed.  I went into this as knowledgeable as I could without actually having gone through it.   But it's overwhelming for the life changing reality to set in as you're recovering from the pain of surgery.  In know that the lap band is the "least invasive" wls option, but it is still real surgery.  It's hard to know right now what is what - - what's surgery pains, what's gas, what's soreness, what's band related.  But  I'm just taking it one doing a step at a time and doing a little better each day.  I realized (or I guess always knew but was able to articulate) that WLS is different than other surgeries in that other surgeries usually fix a specific problem and once the surgery is over, the healing process begins.  With WLS, it is meant to help address a problem, but the surgery really kicks off the whole life changing process.  I think that once I start feeling a bit better physically and seeing the wl results, it will help keep me motivated throughout the process.

Anyway, I have only told a few people about this, but my family and friends who do know have been wonderful and supportive and I am very lucky.

I am moving on to full liquids today, so we'll see how that goes.  Then mushies in a few days.  Anyway, thanks for letting me share

Kylie, hang in there.  You're right, you've been through major surgery.  Eat mindfully when you get to the mushies.  I know a lot of lapbanders and they talk about having to be careful so that things don't get stuck.  You're going to do great.  You've armed yourself with a lot of information and I know you'll be successful.

Please keep us updated on how you're doing.  Happy Holidays!

Sounds like you are doing well.  I thought I was dying three days out.  But I am feeling pretty back to normal now two weeks later.  Be patient and take it easy.

Remember the mantra:

THIS WILL GET BETTER.

Take note of the daily improvements. It will help you to stay positive. A log or diary might help.

Yup, it is major surgery. Just think of all the shopping we're going to do!
