I am 7 months out and down 80lbs.  Just cracked a normal BMI and would like to lose another 20 or so pounds.  My skin is a mess!  I guess I was expecting it to rebound like it did 10 years ago when I lost on weigh****chers....well not so much!

At this time I have no means to pay for plastics and I am happy with my look in clothes....naked is just a bit frightening!

My quesiton is this...would a woman of my age (49) with the amount of weight lost (80lbs normal BMI) expect to see any spontaneous improvement with the condition of the skin...or am I just going to look like a sharpae dog?

Well... I'm 51.  I had a tummy tuck 15 months after WLS surgery - BUT - what I've found out is the weight you still have continues to redistribute.  So, yes, you may see a difference (and I think my skin has somewhat rebounded), but not to the effect like it may have 10 years ago (mine isn't even close to what it was 15 years ago when I lost).

I'm having a breast lift/augmentation in January.  Some days I think they're ok the way they are, some days I don't.

I'm not happy with my legs... but with the cost of a LBL, I don't see anything in my future to take care of it.

My suggestion is to let your body redistribute - wait as long as you can.  Now, I know my tummy would never have bounced back.... that's why I did the TT when I did, plus the insurance paid.  I'm very happy with the outcome of it.

Sorry about that, Lori.  You might want to check with Rebecca, who was able to get her plastics covered by insurance, I think?

I so understand what you are going through.  Unfortunately in my case, the more I lost the worse the skin got and I have been an avid bodybuilder for more than 12 years.  My skin had just had enough abuse I guess.  So, I went and had a lower body lift 11 weeks ago and it's so wonderful to see all the work I've been putting in at the gm.  I just could not stand to look at myself naked anymore.  It was very expensive but I'm happy I did it.  I am 47 and my skin was beyond rebounding.  Good luck, I hope things get better for you.

Lori, no words of wisdom from me.  I'm afraid that at 60 I'm going to just have to deal with the skin or figure out how to finance the plastics.

Congratulations on reaching a normal BMI!!!  What a fabulous accomplishment in only 7 months.  You've done great with your recovery.  I hope you're very proud of yourself!

I had WLS 8 years ago when I was 45. I lost 120 lbs and got down to 120 lbs. I hated my body. I was able to have a panni removal paid for by insurance and I had implants, which I regret to this day. I used to dream of being able to have a LBL, arms done, thighs done.
After I regained 100 lbs I still hated my body but something funny has happened. I had a revision and I have lost about 60 lbs. I still have about 15 lbs to get to a normal BMI but I no longer hate my body. I don't know if it has bounced back for some reason but it doesn't look that bad. Maybe it's my age but I can live with it. If I had the money there are other things I would rather do with it. With the exception of having the implants removed and having a breast lift. That I still don't like. But the arms aren't as flabby as I remember. My thighs aren't so bad. The butt is still saggy and flat but it doesn't really bother me that much. I think part of what happened is that after my tummy was done I still wasn't happy with it. And I definately wasn't happy with my breasts. And I realized that it was never going to be good enough. I was never going to look like a 20 year old. I might get rid of the skin but I would still have the scars. And you couldn't see the scars in clothes but you couldn't see the loose skin in clothes, either.
Now with my rivision I have a big old ugly scar from my breastbone to my belly button. When I was thin before I could wear clothes that showed off my midriff. Never again. Never be able to wear a 2 piece bathing suit. And you know what? I just don't care.

Ladytazz, if you don't mind, why do you regret your breast augmentation so much? Other than that it sounds like you have a wonderful attitude that I hope is contageous!

Thanks
Kathy

Well, to make a long story short, when I went to the plastic surgeon I wanted a breast lift and augmentation and they would only do one procedure at a time.  I should have found another surgeon but instead I decided to have the implants at that time and to go back later for the lift if I needed it.  They looked pretty good until I gained 100 lbs and then gravity took over and they sag like crazy.  I don't have the money for a lift now.  And I figured out that I don't look good with big breasts.  They make me look fat instead of sexy.  I miss my itty bitty titties.  If I had the money I would get the implants out and have a lift.

 I totally get that  ....

Ive always thought my  bazooms  make me look much bigger on the top half ( as in FATTER )   than on the bottom ..... its almost like i have two differnt bodies .    the ideal  booby size fills a champagne cup  someone once said ..... thats  not very big .... like an A  .   But SOO  PRETTY  !!

Here is  my formula  for sagging skin (  and yes it DOES work)  . Salicykicacid containing body scrub in the shower   ( it works wonders  used as face soap too btw )   every single day ....   U can buy a grapefruit scented one  in any drugstore under the Neutrogena acne products .   Works great .  What is does is  increase cell turnover a bit so  your skin ACTS  younger  and tightens up naturally ...

Sun and sand  and sal****er whenever possible

Exercise -  particularly full body exercise like  intensive lap swimming that works all the little muscles  .....at every opportunity

running or walking   and some kind of ab exercise  ....

Ok im a bit younger than U ....but U can see the results  on my profile  for Urself  w/out plastics ( look under north carolina  photos i think forthe bikini pics )  .   My body COULD look a little better ..but nekkid its PERFECTLY acceptable  ...beautiful even .
