Pretty much! My family is from there and I was born and raised in Texas but on the Louisiana border. "Crawfish Country" some say.

My grandfather who lived next to me my whole life and was the matriarch of the family died 4 years ago at age 89. He still spoke fluent cajun french which is different from classic French. Anyway, I picked up a little through the years with him. My 15 year old once told his dad "Son of a *****" in French that he no doubt learned from his pawpaw! He was 2!

I would give ANYTHING to hear pawpaw say that again!LOL

Kids pick up stuff so easily, and it's not always the stuff you want them to pick up, huh? :D I'm sorry for your loss; it's hard to lose such an important figure in your life. I'm glad you have such great memories of him, though. :)
