How bad is it?

I can easily drink tons of broth, crystal light, gatoraide, popsicles, jello, etc and am suppose to do this for the first 10 days.  But I can't gag down the protein mixed into any of these.  I have 4 more days before I advance to the full liquid stage where I can have milk based protein shakes and yogert for protein.  How bad would it be to just keep getting my fluids in and add the proteins in on friday?

IMO a person can only do so much.......do what you're capable of!  Protien is not the best tasting stuff and is an aquired taste as well all know!  Keep trying different stuff until you find something you can stomach.  My favorite......and I use that term lightly was my version of an arnold palmer......I lived off of it during the liquid stage.  I used Nectar Ice Tea and crystal light lemonade......I tried to get down 3 scoops over the entire day....that gave me 54gr of protien per day.....I kept adding water for taste if needed......You'll find something.....just keep trying!

Yeap the other issue is that we live 5 hours from anywhere that you can buy any of these products and we are in a blizard so even delivery would be more than the five days.  I really like the nectar products mixed with milk (but I can't have milk for another 4 days).  think I will just keep up the liquids and play it day by day.  Thanks for the advice and support.  Sharon

I was told that the liquid stage is mainly just to stay hydrated. Focus on fluids and adding protein later with full stage should be fine. You may want to call MD office to make sure because all MD's are different.

1st priority right now is hydration. If you can get protein in via shakes, awesome, and if you can get vitamins in via chewables or capsules, awesome. --- Fluids #1

Thanks Gina-  I am getting in my fluids easily.  When I can add milk based protein shakes I should do fine, but that is another 4 days.  I was just worried about muscle loss, I feel good so I think I will just keep chugging along.  :-) Sharon

You won't get muscle loss in 10 das of limited protein. another 4 days won
t matter in the big scheme of things. You should be fint to wait till you can have milk with your shakes.
Good luck,
Holly

I would think as long as your hydrated, you ok in the beginning.  I used milk with non-fat dry milk mixed in to get most of my protein in the beginning.

I didn't do protein drinks at the beginning.  I also put unflavored protein in some of my pureed foods.  I was on puree from the beginning, I didn't have to do liquids.  Every doctor is different though and you should probably do what yours recommends.

Good luck.
