How NOT to make your protein Coffee - Laugh of the Day
Ok, I was in a hurry this morning and decided to drive through McDonalds and get me 2 Large Decaf Coffees and mix my protein into one of these.
I'm at home getting ready to leave and decide to mix my Syntrax Nectar Latte in some water so i can just pour it in my coffee and not have to worry about the lumps. After I've mixed it in a little water I decide I would heat it for a little bit so it won't make my coffee cold when I pour it into it.
I get to McDonalds, get my coffee, pull over to fix it so I can drink it on the drive to DGD#1's house. Open the container with the protein/water in it and it is like a brick!! I don't know what the water/heat did to it but I finally got it cut in half and thought I would just drop it in the coffee and surely it would dissolve!! No it did not dissolve. When I finally finished the coffee, there were just big lumps left in it!!
I have mixed it with water before and poured it into my coffee, so I guess it was heating the protein with a little water in it that made it do this. Next time I'll just mix the protein with water and NOT heat it in the microwave.
Linda
I usually just keep it cold/chilled until I mix it in the hot drink. Its usually hot enough for me anyway.
Nothing worse than clumpy nasty coffee!!

It didn't turn out to be a torn rotator cuff after all, but a bone spur - and we are BOTH very glad about that! The recovery will be a lot better and much much faster.
I had the same surgery 3 years ago and can't remember anything about the recovery, so it mustn't have been too bad...

So I must admit it: I've heard several LW members talk about protein coffee and I truly did not understand what this meant. I thought it was coffee flavored protein powder......(I couldn't find it anywhere!!!!!!!!) I haven't had coffee since surgery! I've been going nuts.
So just to clarify and not embarrass my self anymore, what protein is it that you put in your coffee? All the protein powders I find are vanilla or chocolate flavor and I thought that would taste nasty if mixed in with coffee. Is there any flavor less protein?
