I don't think I dump anymore...

Hi Jody,  I'll miss you while you're gone this week.  Wishing BF a great surgery and easy recovery.  At least if he's in pain he'll have you to look at.  That would force anyone to smile.  :)

I'm sorry you're not dumping anymore.  As a Sleevie person, I've never dumped.  I try not to push the envelope, but I've had a few bites of dessert here and there.  What keeps me from doing it is that my scale goes up from just the sugar fumes.  I've locked myself in my house to get my scale back down the two pounds I put on eating restaurant/hotel food for 4 days last weekend.  Gratefully it worked and I'm not feeling as tempted, but then again it's morning and I'm in my jammies.  I just want to make it sanely through all of the office luncheons this week. Carbs and sugar are NOT on my plan.

Do what Rosa said... I dump, I dump, I dump.

Aww thanks Lee!!  You're always so sweet to me!  He's told me countless times today how he's happy and grateful I'm here with him....

I need to get my scale back to where it is supposed to be.  Up 4 lbs as of this morning (no, not all at one time)...

The good thing is that you aren't typically a sugar maniac. This time of year, it is just everywhere. I have nibbled on some fudge/sweets here and there and have been okay. I have only dumped a couple of times. BUT, then last night, I drank some cranberry juice and had to go to bed with what I guess was dumping (chest aching, sweating, sleepy). Woke up 1 hour later and felt fine.

So, maybe holiday sweets are getting a pass by us this year.....

Yes, when you have a good dump, it reminds you what your tool is there for and I can definitely see how it would be a deterrent for sweets....  I guess I was really hoping it would happen to me... just so I knew that part of my tool still works!  Well, maybe it still does... but not sure when I'll find that out again...  not in a big hurry to find out.

I really hope I dump on sugars as they are most definitely my weakness.  I am just 4 1/2 months out and still feel a bit queasy so I think I have dumped, but not absolutely positive.  Right now I am going an the assumption that I do but suspect the farther out I get, the harder it will be not to test it.  The fact that you are so aware of what is going on with you will hopefully not get into trouble.

I love reading your posts by the way.  Thanks for all the great encouragement!

Good luck with your friend.  My sig other had several surgeries on his rotator cuff and it is really quite painful (don't tell your friend!)la

Hugs,
Paula

I'm glad I can help you on your journey - I really enjoy being a part of this board.

Yes, you've had some mini dumps, as I call them.  Feel yucky, sweaty, tired, sometimes nauseous...

I was wondering when the day would come I'd test it like I did... well it's here!

Maybe the dumping will come back Jody.  I have never had the full blown dumping.  I get the fast heartbeat and just go to sleep sitting up, but never too bad.

Unfortunately I love sweets(especially cookies) and they are getting to me this year for some reason.  I had some left over from our 5-year olds Sunday School party yesterday and I brought them to DGD#1's house today.  I'm babysitting her.  I know my DIL probably doesn't appreciate that because she is trying to lose a little weight(she is a really good size).

Wishing BF good luck with his surgery today.  I'm sure you will be a sweet little nurse!!  I hope he is a very good patient.  DH drives me crazy when he has any type of surgery that requires someone waiting on him.

Hi Linda!  He's doing very well. It turned out to be a bone spur and not a fully torn rotator cuff after all - which is great!

He's having issues with having someone do things for him - he's so used to being alone and doing things for himself I've had to yell at him a few times to sit his behind down and let me do it...  not sure if I'm so sweet after all - LOL... but I do have good intentions!

As far as your dumping goes - I called those "mini dumps"... and usually when I get them I don't do the whole sleep thing, but feel like I could.  I've had one full blown dump - wasn't fun at all... lots of minis...

Jody, that's great news about BF.  I'm glad it's not as serious as they first thought!
