Rebecca, I'm so glad that you're checking in.  I've been swinging for you since surgery, praying that you're doing ok and not feeling too much pain.  I think you're so courageous to do this.  I'm going to keep you in my best thoughts as you start healing.  Please check in when you feel up to it.  I can't wait to see your "after" pictures.  You so deserve to look stunning!

Rebecca - so glad to hear from you!  WOW - the breast reduction sounds like it took a lot!  I have the side "boobage" too and when I go for my preop appt we'll see if he can do anything about it without major reconstructive surgery...

Now - with the TT, you will feel less hungry, and/or have more restriction initially.  Your excess skin isn't there anymore and its pulled tight.... making less stretch... did that make sense?  LOL

Yes - and I'm definitely feeling it when I eat.  My normal yogurt/peanut butter/protein powder breakfast now takes me 3 meals to eat alone, rather than one meal along with fruit and veggies.  But each day I can get down a little more, so that's good.

I'm just really dumbfounded by the side boobage removal.  It makes perfect sense, but I just didn't get it until I saw it (and my job and my forte is being able to understand what people say to me!).  I really expected the arms to connect to the side boobage as well as under the breasts for the reduction, but the arms are totall separate.  Of course, given how hard it was to move my arms at all in the hospital, I'm relieved!  I suspect I'd still have trouble using them if they were all connected like that!

Glad you are home and doing well!!

The ps took care of my side boobage too in 2006 :) I have to say that my breasts went from looking like tube socks to unbelievable!! They salute the sun everyday LOL

You will love the results and the scars fade away to nothing...especially around the nipples. Enjoy!! Can't wait until my TT planned for Fall '12!! (maybe a little sooner)

Rebecca:
Been praying things would go smoothly.
Let me know if you need any help, I don't live too terribly far from you!

So glad you are home and doing pretty well!
Maybe by Christmas, you will be sleeping 100% in the bed again!

Do reach out if you need anything.

Thanks, Bev I really appreciate it.  First field trip tomorrow - off to visit the plastic surgeons to let them check everything out.

DH is extremely confused - with any other surgery I've had, I've wanted OUT of the house the day after I got into it.  Not this time.  I'm tired, and content to stay here sleeping and playing video games. (thank heaven for smart phones... I'm so brain-fried, I'm having trouble with solitaire!!)

Well the last surgery was laproscopic - so not as much surface to heal/ go into shock!
AND--- it's grey, icy and cold and who wants to go out in this and possibly slip and fall....I think staying in for the most part is a good idea for now!  (in addition to all those people shopping while they have the flu/colds... passing it along.. not what you need to battle in your recovery time!)

Pull the teen-ager-game-playing-routine as long as you please!

You sound great!

Welcome home, Rebecca!  I'm so glad that you're doing well!

Wow, those surgeons are so creative!  I never would've thought to start in the back.  (I guess that's why I'm not a surgeon...)

Heal away!  And keep us posted on your progress...

Me neither, Rosa, me neither!

DH and I were very pleased when they came in to mark me up on Thursday morning, and told us that both Dr. Howard and Dr. Gutowski and their teaching fellow (who shall remain nameless only  because I can't remember it) spent a couple hours drawing on my pics the night before surgery and planning out just what order, who would do what, and what products to use, so that once they came in to me, it was simply a matter of putting the lines where they needed to go.

We were only a few hundred yards from Northwestern University's Dyche-Ryan stadium, and the markers they were using were purple (NU's colors), so I had to ask who had provided them.  They claimed it was coindicence.

Both surgeons visited my family after surgery, and all 3 were in to see me that night and the next day.

Nice care - I just wish that the food service didn't take an hour to deliver warm, dry cottage cheese!
