New Realization

Chili and taco meat are now my favorite meals LOL.

I was thinking that if the Wendys Chili had 17 g of protein, then my homemade chili has to have at least 25, if not more.
I have more beans, more meat and add cheese and plain greek yogurt (my sour cream) to my bowl. I think it is fairly healthy.

The taco meat just sets very well in my stomach, that I am happy about.

Just my thought for today LOL...
Everyone have a great one.

Glad I am not the only one! I have made 4 pots of beef chili and 2 pots of chicken chili since surgery. And I am the only one who eats it!  Well I guess hubby did have 2 bowls.

Since having surgery 3 1/2 months ago, I have made 3 pots of beef chili and other than what everyone had for dinner that night, I have been the one to eat all the left overs.

I am headed to the Dollar tree to get some real cheap plastic containers and freeze small portions for myself.

Ah yes.......CHILI!  It is my gold standard in the winter!  In a 4 quart crock pot I put 3lbs of ground turkey, 2 cans of chilli beans, 3 cans of black beans, a can of stewed tomatoes, and a can of crushed tomatoes, a basball size white onion and of course various seasonings.....very meaty and beany!  Sometimes I even throw in a can of corn for a little color!  I'm even thinking about adding another pound of turkey to the mix.......LOL  This is a pretty thick hearty chilli not the stuff you get at restaurants or even from a can!

I buy the chili ready beans and crushed tomatos.  Buschs beans has hot, medium, & mild....I usually mix a hot and medium together....I think the tomatoes are hunts.  I also forgot I add a small can of tomatoe paste as well....I season the turkey while it's browning with chili powder, pepper, onion powder, and minced garlic......

Stacey,
I love chili now and it is one of the easiest things for me to eat.  I like Wendy's chili, but when I make mine it does not have as much fat or calories as Wendy's.

I like beef and the white chicken chili both.

Yummy.  I made a taco bake from one of the OH folks last weekend.  Taco meat, black beans, refried beans, cheese, layered.  It was really good and everyone liked it.

My trick to freezing stuff is to do it in ice cube trays. Then I can pop them out and put them in a plastic bag and get out however many I want.  2 is 1/4c.
