Hey
Anybody have an allergic reaction to Prilosec?  I have hives and took benadryl, called the doctor, just waiting for the return call.  Just wondered if anyone else had a reaction to the wonder drug?

Do you have surgical adhesive?  If I'm remembering correctly, a good friend of mine had hives from the tape that was used to seal up her incisions. She was miserable for weeks until they figured out what it was.  Benadryl is great stuff to relieve the hives.   Maybe it's not the prilosec?

The only medication I can NOT take is morphine. It makes me itch and get red all over.

I do fine with Prilosec. I hope you find something else that works for you. Allergic reactions are nothing to mess around with!

Good luck!

Not me.  I've had the real thing and several generics and no reactions.  One of my kids was allergic to an antibiotic made by one company but not the same antibiotic by a different company.  Must have been in the binder they used.
Are you taking anything else new?

 Ginny -

I hope you figure out what is causing this ASAP.  Are you home now?  Sounds like it could be a couple of different things.  I know that you said you were given several different medications - it may be hard to pin point exactly what it is.

As others have suggested  - perhaps the adhesive or moriphine?  Best wishes and please let us know what you find out!  I have only had hives one time and it was no fun!

God Bless!

Hi everyone
Nope not home yet.  Dr pretty confident it is the time release pain med he gave me, not prilosec, so not taking anything except antibiotic to be sure it isn't that.  Tomorrow morning if all ok, we will introduce prilosec again tomorrow.  I don't take meds regularly and I have sure had alot this week, so it could be a reaction to everything.  He is playing it safe by keeping one med and if ok, introducing another.  Like this whole thing wasn't stressful enough...LOL.
Glad when I am home and in my own bed.
Thanks everyone!!

Ginny - I am praying that it is the pain medicine like the doctor thought!  I hope it clears quickly and you are on your way to recovering as planned!  I bet you will be SO happy to get home!  Take care and let us know when you are safely home!  Continued prayers being sent you way this week!

God Bless!

Maybe it is the steri strips that they use? I'm having a reaction right now to mine and it's awful! Hives, itching, but it right around each site so I know that's it. I'm taking Benadryl which helps and per my doctor I removed the 2 smallest ones which did help those, but 24 hours later they are still red and inflammed and itch, itch, itch. I'll be seeing him tomorrow and I'm sure he'll remove the last of them.
