Wow!  Sounds like you had GREAT "customer service"!!!  I'm glad everything went safe and smooth.

To be honest, I have only heard mostly POSITIVE experiences from people having surgery in Mexico....I would have definitely considered it, if my US choice didn't work out!

BEST WISHES...take care!!!

What an excellent report and recommendation for your surgeon. I also understand Dr A is studying with Dr Ungson and will be doing the duodenal switch some time in the future.

Welcome home! I'm glad everything has gone so well and you're feeling strong enough to get out and do a little shopping.

Gina- In my opinion that would be great for people wanting the DS in Mexico, I am still a bit leary about having that type of procedure and then going to a recovery house (which some Mexican providers offer).  My understanding is that Dr Ungson does all of his procedures within and with a hospital stay as does Dr Aceves.  I really have had great energy and have had to really stop and tell myself "silly you just had surgery slow down".  LOL, have a Merry Christmas it is great to be on the bench with the rest of you.  Sharon

It's hearing constant stories like this about him that I choose him. It would have ALMOST been a disappointment for my work to approve my surgery because that would mean I couldn't go to him, hahaha.

I have never heard so much praise about a doctor and when the few friends and family I've told about my plan make that face when I mention Mexico I just can send them back here, do a search by his name and see all the praise. I tell them, "try to find 1 bad review, you won't!" that is a great feeling to know that going in.

It's not about where a doctor is located it's the individual. Same goes with people too, there is a lot of stigma about Mexico and immigrantion and I think that lends to the bad taste in peoples mouth.

Riza- Your turn is coming up soon would love to hear about your experience as well.  I think to a certain extent that Americans (since I am one I feel as though I can say this) are of the mind set that we offer the best of everything.  Would do us all well to see the good and bad in other areas of the world.
