Anyone else a CHEATER??
I dod have a moment of weakness on my 2 wk pre op diet. I ate some Mac N Cheese, felt horrible about it. What I missed most about the liquid was not being able to chew. I would make cryatal light slushies and eat them all day long. I was allowed literally only liquids and it killed me. Hubby made dinner and I went for a walk or anything that got me out of the house. I put a baby gate up in front of the kitchen so it would be harder for me to get in there to "scrounge" for food... It was so hard, I definately know how you are feeling.
As for the ultrasound goes, I had one to check my liver and gall bladder. Good Luck hun and hang in there, it does get easier sa the days go by.

It varies so much from one doctor to another. I also used the Bariatric Advantage pre-op, and luckily didn't mind it so much. I was given the choice of doing 4 shakes a day or 3 shakes and a sensible meal. Of course, I chose option 2! I would eat a protein and vegetable and even an occasional carb, and I still lost 13 lbs pre-op! Hang in there, you will be fine! We all slip up every now and then and just get right back at it!

Hey momma.....No worries on the ultrasound as others have said it is probably to look at your gallbladder, there really would be no other reason. Did they tell you to be NPO(nothing to eat or drink 8 hours b4) for the ultrasound? Here is a clue that it is the gallbladder they are looking at. If you eat or drink anything 8 hours before, your gallbladder will start to work, squeazing itself to put those enzymes out for digestion.....they don't want that happening because then they are unable to see if you have sludge or stones in the gallbladder. If they didn't tell you to be NPO PLEASE call the place you are having it done to make sure they don't want you to be NPO, I'd hate for you to get there have it done and then pay for something that is nondiagnostic!
As far as the cheating goes I wasn't required to do a liquid diet by my surgeon as long as I lost 10% of my excess weight before surgery. They have found that the 10% works to shrink the liver just as much as doing a liquid diet does. So with that said as long as you are losing you'll be fine. Now I didn't lose the 9lbs I was supposed to lose prior to my pre-op physical so my surgeon put me on a liquid diet. I cheated BIG time! I ate at least one very tiny meal a day.........but I went from an almost 3000 cal diet to 500.....without my tool! I asked myself the same questions......if I can't do this now how am I gonna do it for 3 weeks after surgery???......Well amazingly I was able too.......In fact I could barely drink what they wanted me to!
Let me tell you something that not many surgeons tell their patients......
When they perform the RNY they use the top portion of your stomach. This part of the stomach is loaded with nerve endings so when your stomach reaches capacity you get that extremely full sensation. Well imagine this......after surgery those nerve endings will be stimulated more frequently telling your brain to tell you that you are full and not to put anymore in well before you over eat! It's a wonderful "side affect" of the RNY! It's your tools way of helping you out!
