Rosa's White Bikini Challenge
Hi Everyone,
I'm going to the Caribbean at the end of January for a renewal retreat. (Poor me, right?) Back in August, my friend the Olympian (yes, she qualified for the olympics and is now, amongst other things, a fitness instructor, and yes, she's going with me), calls this my "white bikini vacation" because she challenged me to get myself into a white bikini by then.
My friend believes that it's one thing to claim your body in a big ole one-piece or swimskirt (my swimwear of choice - hide! hide! hide!) and it's another to claim it in a tankini or dark bikini. But a white bikini says "I love my body, and here I am!" I think I agree.
Well...
THE BIKINIS CAME! I tried them all on yesterday. This one is my favorite (I have it in black - I have to have at least ONE black bikini - I am a New Yorker, after all.) And, can I say this (as I do, I have a bit of tear in my eyes) they look pretty darned good! I would actually be comfortable being seen in public in any of them. My surgery scars are very very visible, but they're kindof...cute. I'm embracing them, since they're there, and I either can embrace them or not. My choice. :)
The challenge is the white one. It's the smallest cut of any of them. See the top here and the bottom here. (not on me: professional hazards preclude me from posting pictures of myself in a bikini, I think.) The bottom looks great, but the top says "hello!" with the ladies in a way I'm not quite sure I'm accustomed to.
Anyway, I'm committed to wearing it in 5 weeks. By then, something should have changed somewhere and I should look better somehow.
What's most exciting to me is that these swimsuits (all mediums or 36Cs) will probably all be too big by the summer, which is why I purchased almost all clearance stuff.
So. My challenge is to work on toning (and continued shrinking) so that I can look better next month on the beach! I have an Olympian to tan with, which will step up my game. ;)
You may not be headed to the beach in January, but at some point, each of us will have an opportunity to be waterside (pool, etc.) Would you like to start your own White Bikini Challenge, for whenever that opportunity comes? I tell you from personal experience, the motivation (and psychological rewards!) are worth it!

I leave for Hawaii on January 31st. Although I will not be ready for a bikini let alone a white bikini. I bought several suits from the clearance racks at the end of last season. I really need to head to the gym and try to look the best I can. I will be spending two weeks there and I want this to be a memorable vacation.
I think I have done too much damage to my body to ever see a bikini, but I sure would love for it to happen.

Fully understood, B! We'll just think of it as your Hawaii Swimsuit Challenge.
I notice that, at these sizes, just a few workouts make a big difference in toning. As we have less weight, the fat is less able to hide our muscle definition. So it's a great time to get going on your workouts. Why not get a head start before all of those New Year's Resolutioners?
:)
Good luck!

Ok, I already own this one in a brown polka dot. I might be able to post a pic by the time our cruise rolls around in February...old lady wrinkles and all.

Bikini, yeah right. I have scars from my breast bone to my pubic bone from 4 open surgeries. I'll have to think of another challenge.
But for you young, almost to goal folks, go for it and I will support you all the way.

How about this one

Sorry, I don't know how to make it a smaller link.
Actually, we are going on a cruise sometime this winter so I certainly can't wear my 2x ones. That really would be obscene as it floated around me.

Yes, Price! That's perfect!
FYI, you make the small links by copying the link from your browser, then highlighting whatever text you want to use and clicking the little globe button (next to the smiley face) where you paste the URL. Does that make sense, for future reference?
Anyway, the rouching (sp?) on the swimsuit makes it even more flattering!
And no, you MAY NOT go around with too big swimsuits!!! Too big pants are one thing (also not good, but we can give a little there.) But too big swimsuits are indeed obscene.
