Re-introduce myself

I guess I should re-introduce myself!  There are soo many new faces & names on here, since I haven't been around lately.

My name is Jackie.  I'm a LW that had the DS Aug 25, 2008.  I'm about 2 1/2 yrs out and feeling great!!!  I lost over 100 lbs at my lowest weight.  I don't get on the scale any more, because I can't stand to see the number....its in the 130's, might even be in the 140's (don't know).  I want the number to be in the 120's (127 was my lowest).  I would love to get down there again, but I don't see it happening.  I wanted it to go closer to 120, but I'm afraid if I got to 120 I'd want it to go in to the 1teens!   I'm 5'6", in a size 4 jeans/pants and a Med top (some smalls fit me, depends on the cut and if its Jrs or Misses).  As long as my clothes are fitting me comfortable, I'm OK!  If they get a bit snug, I cut out the crap, watch what I eat and get them back where I want them to fit!!

I have a HUGE problem with body dysmorpha (I think that is the right word)!  I look in a mirror and see myself as still fat!!  Not like I was prior to surgery, but as I probably really looked at size 14.  My co worker is 2 inches taller than me and a size 6.......I think she looks great (would love to look like her), but I weigh less and I'm in a size smaller clothes than her.  I just don't see it!  I've got 2 mirrors in my house and they only show shoulders up!

OK I've bored you enough!  I am going to try to be more of a participant!  I'm a FB addict, so I spend a lot of time over there, but I do miss my LW friends & family!!

Sooo, Best of luck to ALL the people going into surgery in the next few days!  Happy recovery to those that recently had their surgery!!  I will try to catch up on as many people as I can!!

Thanks for having me here!!

Welcome back Jackie!  Good to see you again.

Sounds like you're doing a great job!  I think we all have some type of body dysmorphia.  I know I still do....  some days I like the way I look - others I don't..... but I'm very happy where I'm at.  Same with me with clothes fitting.... when they start getting tight... I know I need to change what I'm doing.

 Hi Jackie !

Body dismorphia's  a funny thing ...

Interestingly  most of the people  Ive actually MET  from here  looked  a lot bigger than they  thought..  ... for what its worth  .. triply true  for MEN  lol.

So they may not be so body dismorphic after all...

then here  on the LW board we have this frailty issue too ....

I  personally think everyones PERFECT  .  REALLY  .   just BEAUTIFUL.

Its not  a weight thing  , its a HEALTH  thing , and if U exercise enough U get the defined  tight bodybuilders  muscle - chart body we've all  lusted after  in our prison of fat all these years .  Yeah , you CAN do it  - you can  get that fitness- model body  if U want .

As a matter of fact -  quiet as its kept , were genetically GIFTED that  way  , seriously .  so a little  heavy lifting  goes  a LONG way  to build attractive looking muscle for us  ...

But  U may not  WANT  it .... U may  just  want the size  whatever  ..or the bikini  bod for now ... or whatever milestone U have Ur  heart set on .   Recovery's  a GRADUAL thing  .    Be gentle with Urself  !!   The BEST  thing is  we are here  for U  unconditionally  WHEREVER U are  and WHATEVER  U want .    And that  will probably CHANGE  as time goes on ...we understand that  ...
we're there too.

big Hugs  Sister  !!      love , Ava

Thanks Ava!!

I've learned that life is "all about prospective"!!  Everyone perceives the same thing differently!  I'm sure if I exercised and did Everything I'm suppose too.....I could be thinner and toner....but unfortunately, I think I'll still see myself the same way!!   But that is why I always come back here, because everyone here does understand!!  Its been awhile, but I've lurked in every now and than.

BIG hugs back 'atchya!!

Hey Jackie - nice to meet you!

I think you have a very sensible approach to maintaining, based on what feels and fits comfortably.  That darn scale can go up and down literally hour by hour - it is so frustrating!

I hope to hear more from you -

Thank you Linda!!

You're right about that stupid scale...I tried to get a pic of my "Onederland" enterance....NEVER did get it!  The scale would turn off (digital) before the picture snapped or it read 200 lbs!!!  I was soooo mad!  Oh well, clothing size works for me!

Nice to meet you Jackie!

Congrats on your success.

I think we all have some issues with really seeing ourselves as we truly are. I know my younger sister who weighs about  98 pounds and is 5'1" has more body issues than me, even at 230 standing at 5'1". And she has never been overweight! I am not sure what the answer is, but try to love your body for what it is right now. The ability you have to move, to work, to exercise and to wear a size 4! Way to go!

Hope to keep hearing from you!

~Maria
