Well I have made it to the 3 month mark.  It has not been easy and my buyers remorse still flares up quite frequently.

The good news- I am down 36 lbs, I can wear medium scrubs, yesterday, I work a pair of juniors Levis size 15 from 2004, I am finally seeing progress and getting lots of compliments.

The bad news- At 3 months I am just where I should have been at 2 according to the BMI and goal weight char****er still smarts, still lactose intolerant and refluxing, having difficulties with intake and the slightest bit of ketosis sends me into a downward spiral.  The hair loss has begun.

I am thinking in just a short time I will finally be happy I did this.  I can eat more food so my protein intake is getting better.

Here is the journey in pictures:
My face at  close to its fattest:

Here is me on the day of surgery- down a little:

My first NSV- back in my wedding gown last month from 06-07-08(Don't mind the messy back ground of the overflowing guest room)

Medium Scrubs- Go Colts!!!

And here is me on the eve of my 3 month surgiversary wearing those size 15 Levis that you cant see, but my face is becoming recognizable to me!

Can't wait to see what the next 3 months bring- hopefully an end to the  hair loss, reflux and lactose intolerance,  another 30 lbs gone, and the ability to drink water!

Well done!  I can't really see the pictures, alas - I'll look at work, where I can zoom the screen.  But you're going to see changes - even more of them - as you continue to lose at your own pace.

Congratulations on a job well done.

I could not drink water for a few months and then BOOM  I could ...lactose intolerance passed as well...hair is growing back....it's ok to be bummed about surgery...I am sometimes...especially when I get dehydrated and it freaks me out....but I'll bet you have less remorse about surgery then you used to be about being heavy......LOL...I do...SEAVIEW

Thanks ladies, I am not sure why the pictures are so small, I copied and pasted them from my profile just like I have seen previously suggested.

Around the 3 month mark, maybe a couple of weeks before, I noticed that I could drink more water, and my nausea and vomiting lessened. The reflux seems to have decreased, especially during the past couple of weeks. Since I have been able to get in more protein and fluids, and I'm not on the verge of dehydration all the time, my energy level has improved and I have lost my buyers remorse. The first 2-2.5 months were very difficult for me, especially after spending 2 weeks in the hospital. I certainly had my days, when my buyer's remorse was quite high.

You are getting better, even though it seems slow. You are looking great. Your face is thinner.  People have told me, it is a marathon, not a race. We all lose weight differently. You will be able to drink more water at a time and your daily amount will increase. You are doing great!!!

36 pounds is great!!  Congratulations.

Are you putting anything in your water?  I like Crystal Lite(or Walmart brand) in mine.  Also sometimes it is better to drink it room temperature instead of cold.  If that doesn't work you might try heating it some.

I hope in 3 months you will be happy you had the surgery!!

Just curious, why are you having buyers remorse?  I am having it at 1 month post op because I feel like I will never be able to eat normal sizes of food and that I will have to eat like a bird the rest of my life.  I don't see many people feeling this way, I guess I am strange for feeling this way?

I have buyer's remorse because I often don't feel good, my taste buds have totally changed, I have a hard time keeping hydrated because nothing tastes good and water really hurts.  I can't stand the taste of artificial sweetener so I don't do well adding things like crystal light.  Sometimes tea tastes like tobacco to me.  I hate the lactose intolerance.  At times I forget to check ingredients and then end up sick, the reflux hurts and I hate taking prilosec twice a day, I have a hard time with supplements and protein intake, it makes me sad my hair is falling out, have a busy job that just does not accommodate me taking care of myself.  I work 40-55 hours per week plus grad school put that all together and  it equals buyers remorse.

I think there are many people that feel the way you do.  However, I do not have an appetite at all and when I do eat it takes about 3-5 bites to fill me up so I could care less about eating.

If I had an appetite or in the past had, had time to enjoy my food rather than shoveling it on the way to work or during a 5 minute break I would probably feel the same way.

Food is often how many people cope with emotions, when that is taken away things change a little.
