Fitness Challenge - December 15
Good morning LW's...
What fitness activities do you have on the agenda today?
For this upcoming new year, what fitness activity would you like to try? For me?? I am thinking I want to try skiing/snowboarding. I live in Reno NV and am close to lots of good skiing but in the 22 years I have lived here...I have NEVER wanted to go and play in the snow. Many reasons in the beginning but mainly being fat was never a motivator to go down a hill fast...lol
So, I think in the time I have off this next 3 weeks, I will try skiing at least 2 times...to see if I like it!
PS - tomorrow is my surgiversary!! I cannot believe that a year has gone by so fast and so many things changed...Where were you a year ago in your journey?
Have a great wonderful warm wednesday!!!

WOW - its a year already?? Happy surgiversary! I'm very proud of how well you've done and glad you're still on the board here with us.
I'd like to ski too. I was always fat and when I fell I couldn't get back up - so embarassing! but - don't think it will happen this year. I'm having my BL/BA Jan 18th, and BF is going to be in a sling with his rotator cuff surgery - so we're both out of commission for the winter. He's a skiier too... said he could teach me - told him I'd have to start over on the bunny hill!
A year ago I was pretty much where I am now, except 2 lbs lighter - LOL.. Yes, I'm still fighting up and down with those damn 2 lbs, but not stressing over it. It keeps me accountable.

I got up at 4 and ran almost 8 miles. Then did my normal crunches, push-ups, and plank. Tomorrow will be a 30 minute warm up walk, and weights. I'm liking my new work out schedule so far.
This year I want to work on my distance running and possibly train for a 1/2 marathon or even a whole. Who knows? It'll all depend on my hip.

Shannon, if you can run 8 miles then you would be able to run a half marathon. I had only trained up to 9 miles when I ran my first one. Check out Hal Higdon training schedules online. I really need to get some mileage in this month too since I have a half mid-January. My running buddy is injured, so we've only been doing short runs. I hope your hip holds up!
Happy surgiversary!
I braved the elements twice. OMG it's cold! 2 - 15 minute walks and 20 push-ups. Last December I think I was 4 pounds heavier and working on getting a little of the bounce-back down. This Dec I'm down those 4 pounds and not worried about getting all the way back to 115.
