Quick question for you guys.  I am about 1.5 months out from VSG and feel like I am always tired.  I am gonna have labs done at three months by my pcp, but thought I would try an iron supplement to see if that would help.  I went to vitalady's site and there is two tender irons...one with vitamin c and the other without.  Any suggestions on which I should take?

Thanks guys!

Taking the c with iron helps absorption of the iron. I t is a matter of taking one or two pills with C included in the formulation or taking one or 2 additional Vit C tabs when you take the iron.

it is your choice bit iron needs to be taken with C for maxium absorption.

i can't remember hpw much c to iron but one of the vitamin folks ahould be aLONG SOON WITH THt info. Good luck,

Vitalady recommends 150mg of Tender Iron (carbonyl iron) for VSG and bands. You could take 2 of the Tender capsules with C or 6 of the Tender chewables and add vitamin C with them. The capsules would last you 200 days for about $29.00. Vitalady also has Polysaccharides Iron, which is only 1 capsule. It causes some folks issues with constipation though. Another iron she carries is Colorado Labs Proferrin ES (heme iron). A little more expensive you only take 1 or 2 without any vitamin C and you get no constipation. You snap the tablet into 2 pieces to aid absorption. You might want to try the Proferrin if you're having low iron symptoms and you might be able to get your doc to prescribe Proferrin Forte. It's just like Proferrin ES except that it also contains folic acid.

What I take is a combo of Proferrin ES at bedtime and Tender iron capsules during the day. My iron and ferritin labs are coming up nicely.
