Susie Wong update...

For those of you *****member Ms. Susie Wong (she's hard to forget)...

Due some unforseen cir****tances, my vacation plans got changed from an East Coast vacation to a Southwest vacation so I made a point to visit our little hot rod Susie on my way through Texas.

So here's the scoop... High powered, Las Vegas attorney who wears stilletto's to pick up the mail decided to close her practice, retire from law, sell her home, and move to Texas with her Bubba.  Just a little note about Bubba - he is a VERY nice man with an ungodly amount of money who just wanted to go home to Texas and work a cattle ranch.

So anyway, we pull off the highway (which is in the middle of no-where) and drive about 15 miles to the ranch gate.  We get through the gate and it takes 30 minutes on dirt roads to get to the house.  Susie met me half-way and it was a wonderful teary-eyed reunion right in the middle of the dirt road with the cows looking on.  I hopped in her Jeep and we went up to the house with DH following behind in the motorhome.  We gabbed non-stop about everything under the sun.

We get out of the car and I finally notice that she is wearing a beautiful sweater with dirty jeans and Ugg slippers...my how things have changed!

We spent 2 days on the ranch with her and Bubba and had a great time watching her feed the horses, goats, and chickens.  Her biggest complaint is that she has to drive so far to get even the simplest things - otherwise she is just as happy as she can be driving cattle and workin' the ranch.  The house is huge and beautiful as I expected and her maid only comes on the weekdays so she kept apologizing for the dirty floor (rolling my eyes here).  Her coffee table used to have Vanity Fair, Bon Jour, and other high class looking stuff and is now covered in horse and cow magazines.  We both had a good laugh at that one!

She is maintaining her weight really well by staying low carb - most of the time she is out on the horse and forgets to eat. But she is faithfully taking her vitamins because she knows both me and her daughter (an MD) would wring her pretty little neck if she didn't!!!  I'm sending her a list of labs she needs and she is in the process of finding a new doc out in BFE.  I told her to see a doc in San Antonio since she is there every other weekend anyway (in the condo he bought her just for their every-other-weekend trips to town) - rolling my eyes again...

sigh....that woman knows how to live!

Anyway, her surroundings have changed, but I'm happy to say that she has not.  She is still the same charming, beautiful, witty, sophisticated lady that we all know and love!

Cheers to all....

Bekah

What a great update!  Susie Wong pre-dates me on this board, but this rings a bell - is she the originator of the babeeeee reference on here?  If so, her legend lives on...

Sounds like you had a great weekend with them.  I suppose animals aren't typically fed in stilettos, eh?  (Mine is, but she's a dog.)

She started "babeeee" and swinging lizards. I brought swinging chickens to the LW board from the DS board but Susie was all out of chicken, so she said she would swing lizards. That started the whole critter swinging thing. lol

She and I were brand new baby newbies here on the LW board back when it was very very quiet....just trying to figure things out, you know?

I don't like the links they added at the bottom to post things to Facebook, etc.   I'm a little private about my surgery and I just think the nature of these forums is a little more private.  That's what makes them so great!  But not if someone can take my post and put it out for the world to see with the click of a little button... I know people could do it anyway if they really wanted but I just think the social networking links are problematic.  Just being stubborn I guess :)

I know what you mean.  I have mixed feelings about FB and all the comingling of personal information too.
You should keep posting here. Your posts would be fun to read :)
