I say a lot of things wrong jokingly and on purpose (to my mom and daugters, mostly things my daughters used to say when they were little), but sometimes I say them to the wrong people or at the wrong times and get looked at like I am nuts. Some things have just become habit, so I say them.

On another note, I absolutely cannot believe the waiter would have corrected you. I find that very odd.

Folks laugh at me and say I am the only person who can put 3 sylables in a 2 letter word, like on.  I think I pronounce it more like own.  Anyway.  I also can't believe he corrected you.  Good thing he doesn't work in a chinese or italian resturant.

I remember on year when we went to Kansas ( inlaws live there) and I have been living in central Va for a VERY long time, of course as with any vacation someone always ends up in the ER. This time it was me, I had something embedded in my eye. When the Dr asked me where I was from, I said Buckingham Va, he said where? Ok this went on for 5 minutes and my husband finally had to tell the Dr what I was sayin, apparently I was saying, bu-in-ham.... I have lived here way too long!
I have worked hard to get rid of that accent but find when I go back home to Bu-in-ham, my accent heads back there and it gets REALLY REALLY BAD!
I completely understand what you are syaing about your accent!!! I love the srimp though, its halarious ...LOL

I love it...Bu-in-ham! I get teased a lot for my country accent but you know what?? I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love who I am. Maybe that's why it ticked me off a bit!
