Small children after surgery

Hello.  I will be having a revision to RNY the week after XMas.  I'm trying to prepare mentally and physically for what will be my last surgical attempt at losing weight.  Im determined to be successful.  I had a lot of reflux and minimal weightloss with my band.  Im anxious about RNY and I've been researching like crazy.

I want to know how those of you with small children handled them after surgery.  I have a 1yr old daughter who is extremely attached (I think it goes both ways lol). I do have temp full time support for the week following surgery, but I know that I will have lifting restrictions.  Just curious as to how you handled it.  Thanks for your input.

My youngest was less than a year when I had my surgery. I spent 2 days in the hospital and had my husband home for 3 days when I got out. After that, I was home alone with my son and did fine. I didn't lift him exept to put him in his bed for nap. I let him crawl up the stairs in front of me, etc. I sat on the floor and played with him, but didn't pick him him up.

Thank you for your response.  I know we will get through it, but I just wanted to hear it from some experienced post ops.  Also, I didnt have to worry about it when I had my band because she wasn't here yet lol!!

Hopefully you can teach the little one before surgery how to climb up in your lap before the surgery so you still can snuggle without the lifting!

It was just me and my 1 year old about to be 2  after surgery. she can crawl up on the couch so thats what she did to sit in my lap. luckily for me she can also climb stairs. so the only time I had to lift her was to put her to bed. when she wanted to be held id sit on the couch or the floor and give her the attention she needed. car rides were easy because she could climb into her car seat.. and If we are riding with friend in her SUV my friend usually takes her out for me.

My youngest is autistic and a huge climber.  I made the choice to stay at a friends for the first 3 days I was home.  Luckily my oldest daughter was there to help me with her when I got home.  She was 2 at the time and about the size of a 3 year old and her development was that of a 1 year old....needless to say it didn't go to bad......we had a couple instances where she would climb on me and hurt my incisions but my oldest was always there to help me out.  Thank goodness for Aura or Halle would have killed me........LOL
