pms and eating..

So it's that perfect week before and I want to eat, eat, eat everything in sight. I'm only 2 mths out of surgery and feel like I shouldn't be feeling this way so soon.

Yesterday I made the horrid mistake of eating carbs almost all day and suffered the consequences. I went food shopping last night and made much better choices there. So today, in the last 2 hrs I have already had 4oz of turkey breast that has 22g of protein in it, a 1/2 cup of canned plain carrots, and a 1/2 cup of cu****ermelon and a 1/2 cup of coffee.

Problem is I feel like I can continue to shovel food even after what I already had. Nothing the past few days has been filling or satisfying at all. I know it's just this week during pms but the same thing happened last month and I'm having a hard time dealing with eating more than the usual.

What suggestions does anyone have for when you hit this time of month?

Thanks.
Brenda.

I am curious for these answers too. I get "snacky" also and have been trying to make sure the snacks are like beef jerky, pumpkin seeds, and even cheese sticks. Good Luck

With pms, I think its a good idea to try to stay with the dense protein. I think some of the vegs and fruits go through our pouch too quickly, leaving us feeling hungry.
So protein first then some veg or fruit.
Darn those dreaded hormones! Makes that carb monster rear its ugly head!

Head hunger is the pits....but I find that when i get this way now I just sit down quietly somewhere and REALLY focus on my stomach and ask myself if I am HUNGRY or if I just feel like eating...
The answer is ALWAYS...I feel like eating..there is an anxious feeling in my body and mind and it makes me want to eat to make it go away...now sometimes I can actually make myself sit there until it passes...and it does...very much like an addict waiting for the urge to use....often I will make a cup of tea and put cream and sweetener in it and drink that...but the point I am making is that we all have to try to get a handle on our head hunger...it's at its worst when we have PMS...and learning to tease it out and recognize the difference is the tricky lifelong challenge..but I NEVER get that stomach growling..hunger pang...gotta have it or i'll die feeling anymore since my surgery....So there you have it....my thoughts for the day...if you know you've eaten what you usually do and you just feel like shovelling...it's head hunger...SEAVIEW

I get snackie when I am PMSing too. Then two days before I am to start I can hardly eat anything. It is like my pouch closes up. But I agree with a couple find dense protein cheese, tureky, chicken, jerky, etc. That usually helps me out. It fills me up faster and it is good for you.

It sounds crazy but sometimes you think your hungry when you are just thirsty.  Try drinking a glass of water and if you still feel snacky then go for a cheese stick or beef jerky.

It works for me

I deal with that every single month. I hate it. Try to fight it and push the fluids. If you gotta eat, make sure it's something good for you. Eat raw veggies or dense protein.

Yes, I have the PMS cravings too.  Mainly Chocolate.  Do your best to stay away, but if you have something try to stay on the small portion side.
