Etiquette 101: No Dumping at Dinner Parties.

Most people don't recognize it as a disease, the same way the think that MO people should just quit eating.  I think that the media/diet industry really has people thinking that just taking the right pill will take care of it.  Lack of willpower?  I don't think so.  I have plenty of that and I was still MO.  Definitely on the disease wagon.

I'm sorry that happened to you Shannon.

I'm not one to care what people think of me, so it's ok. But I do think some people should educate themselves a little. There are too many people that don't think mental illness is real and people should just "suck it up" and deal with it, whether it's depression, eating disorders, anxiety, whatever.

DH and I were just talking this morning about how everyone wants an easy fix. They want a diet or a pill to lose weight and eat whatever they want and not have to exercise. It does not exist. Even WLS is not a magic cure. You have to put in the work. In the beginning when our stomachs are tiny we could probably lose weight eating whatever we wanted, but further out, we would definitely stop losing or re-gain if we didn't follow the rules.

Rosa, I hope you are feeling better this morning.  My problem is getting things stuck because I tend to eat too fast when I'm eating with others.  Need to learn to put my fork down between each bite.

Love the outfit.  When I get rich, I'm going to fly you down to dress me!!

Oh,  by the way, I forgot to mention that the person who made the fabulous comment is a fashion editor!  He writes on fashion, "beautiful things" and etiquette/customs.

Well that fashion editor clearly knows his stuff!  I love the pants and sweater that you posted.  I'd like that sweater too!  I look better in things that are cropped so that my small waist shows, rather than accentuating my big hips.  I may need to go back and look at the sweater again.  :)

I love the pic of you and baby Rosa.  You're so cute together. She's lucky to have such a *****y playmate.

Sorry you got sick.  While I don't dump on sugar, I do get sick if I eat too fast.  I ran out to buy a pair of tall black Ugg type boots at lunch yesterday.  When I got back I chowed down on my 3 oz of tri tip too quickly and thought I'd have to lose it.  Thankfully it stayed put.   I think I spent all of month two on the bathroom floor.  No matter how slow or little I ate, it all said hello again.

So great to get a compliment like that !!

On the  dumping thing .... in public ... yep it SUX.    And yes  , people  DO think ALL kinds of awful things if U keep running  to the bathroom  n coming back with red  eyes ....

so  I used to TELL about my hiatal hernia operation  if I had to (  to forestall worse speculation and  gossip)  .

These ae MY  absolute no- nos  to eat in public -   egg yolks

eggs ( omelets , quiches etc)

cheese or cheese containing fatty sauce i e  alfredo , vodka sauce  n pasta

                                                                                           sugary  sauces  especially with liquor

that INCLUDES   custom blended  sugary  alcoholic  fruit drinks  ....  which are Usually The FIRST   thing U get handed walking in the door  and  will  1)  make U conspicuously DRUNK  in no time  2 )  will make U conspicuously SICK  almost as fast

I WILL  have  one sip of drink -  say yum yum -  and ask for a dry red wine instead - half  HALF the glass  and no more before eating

snack  on protein containing   hors deoveres immediately ( skerewed shrimp , skewered  beef or  chicken satay )

choose  the dryest dishes  for my entree  ( and have a little more wine with)

and drink water  FIRST  .... somehow i find that  helps  keep things down  and me to chew more thoroughly and take smaller bites

EAT SLOOWLY

be REALLY   CAREFUL  with dessert ...

good luck holiday GRRLS !!!   and remember ... the party is in teh PEOPLE   and the EXPERIENCE   not the food

Sorry that happened to you, Rosa. I was sick at Thanksgiving. I thought I was eating slowly enough and just had bites of turkey and some other side dishes, but it didn't sit very well and I was in the bathroom twice with the foamies and that awful thick mucus. UGH!  I just told the woman next to me, that my stomach had been bothering me all day. She seemed to accept that and said that I was eating like a parakeet.

Your outfit is gorgeous!!!!
