Etiquette 101: No Dumping at Dinner Parties.

That's right.  No dumping at dinner parties, folks.  It is positively unseemly!

Ugh.  I had a delicious dinner at the Christmas party I went to tonight.  It was duck with some sort of sauce with a french name with lots of dried fruits.  It was gorgeous and delicious!

But it made me sooooooo sick...in the middle of the sit-down dinner party.  I was seated in the middle of the table, and my absence (3x throughout dinner) was very conspicuous.  I was so embarrassed!

On another note, I did buy these today in a size...get this one!...

...

6!!!

Along with this sweater in a small

I tried on a few jackets in 6s and they also totally fit!

As one of the guests put it, "too bad you're sick.  At least you look fabulous!"

:)

Oh, and the little one in the picture is my little niece.  Guess what her middle name is?

Rosa  ;)

I'm sorry you didn't do well with the duck, I guess there are a couple of different things in that meal that could have done you in---"but at least you looked fabulous!" lol That's a great line. I hope you're feeling better.

Love the slacks and sweater. I like your fashion sense.

I looked at pictures from our Sunday get together and my clothes are too big. [sigh] If I get pants that fit around the hips and legs, the waist is too small and I will start wearing more boots with a heal...a must when you're only 5'1".

Thanks, Gina!

Oh, how frustrating with the big clothes.  Now that you're pretty stable with your weight, though, I think you can start getting your clothes tailored.  That would clear up that fit issue in the hip/thigh/waist region, and also the length.

Eh, heels are good and important, but not all the time.  If you're worried about lengthening looks, the picture with those pants I bought shows a great lengthening style without heels - thin through the leg, a peek of ankle, ballet flats.

The secret to the cropped sweater is to wear something under it that peeks through.  Mine doesn't have the stripes (it's that cut but in a solid beige) and I wear a long, creme sequin tank underneath.  A long lace tank would work, too, giving it a peek of texture.

This season is all about multi-textured/multidimensional layering.

Bless your heart!  I had a similiar experience on Sunday.  We went to brunch with another family to Cracker Barrel restaurant.  I got a small breakfast platter with bacon, scr!
ambled eggs, and grits.  I ate one piece of bacon and three small bites of egg and then all of a sudden, I KNEW it was all coming back up!

I excused myself to the bathroom....threw up the three bites of egg but not one tidbit of the bacon came back up (weird....I ate all this within 10 minutes, maybe the bacon had already cleared my stomach?)

Anyway, it's a terrible feeling to be sick in a restaurant AND have a whole table of people wondering where you are!  That was my first time THROWING up since surgery....don't know what caused it!

Your outfit looks GREAT.....I'm just starting to slide into mediums and size 10 petite pants....can't imagine size 6!!

Aw, thanks, Peyton!

You know, that sort of thing happens to me more than I care to admit.  Usually when I'm out to eat (though I rarely eat in, so it usually doesn't happen, but when it does,  it always happens when I'm out, not in).  I think that's because I'm less likely to remember to eat slowly when I'm busy talking, etc.  Could it be that you ate too fast?

But yes, I've found myself sinking onto a bathroom floor to throw up way too often.  I actually am really careful now to tell people about the surgery so they won't think I'm bulemic.

(for the record, I can think of about 4 times this has happened to me...)

Let me tell you, I really blew through the sizes so quickly - it's crazy!  Granted, these are a tight 6, but  I won't buy clothes that fit perfectly these days.  They won't last long enough.  These are a tight but comfortable 6, and the sweater fits great as is.  (It seems like the kind of sweater that could get big and still be ok.)

Duck is pretty fatty, all dark meat. And maybe the dried fruit was too concentrated sweet?

Tis the season to get sick.   Well, I hope not.  I hope yesterday I learned a valuable lesson, slow down and chew.  And maybe the others can learn from our breif yuck encounters.  Anyway, glad you are better now.  Funny, we all made it through Thanksgiving, then let this sneak up on us.

I know!

Price, by the way, thanks for the new avi!  I KNEW you would look totally different now, what with all that loss.  :)  You're looking splendid, mama!

You're right - we do get so careful at Thanksgiving, and probably need to be careful all throughout this season.  I didn't eat much, though I did go to town on those delicious dried fruits.  They were soaked in the sauce (it was liqueur based, so I'm thinking it was too sugary) and I'm pretty sure they were what did me in.  I'm pretty used to dark meat and didn't eat any fat.

While I was in the bathroom I was thinking, "ugh, what sugar did I have???" because it was that sugary feeling.

Meanwhile, I'm grateful for it - it really takes away the temptation to eat anything sugary!

Two times recently I have eaten too fast and got the foamies while out to eat. One time I couldn't wait until people were out of the bathroom and went in to throw up. I came out of the stall and a lady was there washing her hands with her two little girls. She gave me the dirtiest look and grabbed them and hurried out. I couldn't figure out what the problem was until I went back to the table and told my family about it. My mom and husband decided she thought I was making myself get sick after eating because I am so thin these days.

Ugh - that is soooo annoying, Shannon!

And I know what you mean about that bulemia suspicion.  Shame on her for reacting to you that way if she thought you were sick!  That's really really upsetting.

Right! Even if I was bulemic, that is a disease!
