Where do you get that?
Is there a certain website you love for buying protein products?

Thanks

You will get a lot of different responses, but I like the Chocolate Truffle from the Sytrax nectars and order it from Vitalady or get it from my surgeons office.  I also like the chocolate from Vitamin World - it mixes very smoothly.

As far as protein coffees go, its mixing protein in with your coffee.  Nectars do have a cappucino that is very good and its decaf coffee.

There are 2 ways to mix protein in a hot beverage.

1.  Make sure the coffee is <140 degrees and mix the protein directly into the coffee

2.  Put cold water into a cup and mix the protein into a slurry, then pour your hot coffee in with it. Sometimes mine still clumps when I do it that way.  I think I tend to not stir my protein/water well enough.

Everyone has a different taste tolerance when it comes to protein.  I don't like anything that has a smell or protein taste.  I've tried TONS of protein powders since my RNY over 3 years ago.  I've bought big tubs and ended up dumping them in the trash.  I suggest buying samples before you buy a big tub.

My favorite protein powders are made by SEI Pharmaceuticals name MAX Protein found at GNC.  I like all the flavors but I use Cookies and Cream everyday.  I make a protein drink that is cold and tastes like a frappuccino. I also drink Click.  Click is a protein espresso coffee and it's to die for! I drink it cold and add a scoop of protein powder to and I get 40g of protein in one single drink!

Ash ;o)

The below protein shake is my daily "go to" shake.  I've been drinking it for almost 2 years!

Shelly's Café Biscotti Protein Shake

8 oz. Vanilla Soy Milk (or Milk/Water Combo)
1 scoop of Max/Ultimate Cookies & Cream Protein Powder
1 packet of Instant Coffee Crystals
2 Tablespoons Sugar Free Vanilla Torani Syrup (on sale now)
a couple of Ice Cubes
Optional topping: SF Land o Lakes Whipped Cream

I am extremely tolerant of almost everything and every type of protein. I find the Muscle Milk powder that you get at Costco is a great price for the quantity. I will mix 1 scoop up with about 1/4 cup of water, shake it up, pour into coffee cup, then brew a cup of coffee into it from my keurig. Nothing fancy, but it gets the protein in.

I would recommend getting protein at GNC where you can return it if you don't like it.

Vitalady is great for the $1.99 sample packets too.

I happen to like their Hydro Whey protein with 30 grams per scoop.

Now about that protein coffee, I personally can't drink it.  I don't like my coffee sweet.  Good strong brew with a little cream or 1/2 and 1/2 in it.  So instead I do protein cocoa.

I mix up the scoop of chocolate protein with 4 oz of water and make it a slush.  Then I heat 6 oz of soymilk unsweetened or Almond Breeze milk for around 1 minute.  Then mix them together and heat for 30 seconds, stir then repeat until it's hot enough.  That's my morning protein when I get to my office and it's very rich and yummy.

Lee, I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who doesn't love protein coffee. I've tried a lot of recipes but I always end up feeling like I have wasted a good cup of coffee. But then I feel so guilty drinking my Starbuck's skim cappacino without it being fortified with protein.  I suppose it's a waste of 170 calories (the 1 cup skim milk that's in it). But I figure most of our dining experiences as WLS patients are rarely what I would call gastronomical 4 star experiences, so don't take away my biggest treat of the day.  But do you think I'm slowing my weight loss with the 170 nearly empty (only 8g p.) calories?

I usually make my protein coffee using Nectar Cappachino Latte like Jody discussed.  Lately I have been doing it with Nectar Chocolate Truffle also.  If you google Syntax Nectar, you will find lots of websites that sell it. Some have a one shipping price that can save you some money and some are more than others so check around.  If I am ordering vitamins also from Vitalady, I order them from here.

I love being able to get sample packs. My tastes changed dramatically after surgery. Now I am able to tolerate more than one kind of protein powder.
Vitalady as before mentioned has alot of samples to try.
About time protein powder is my favorite right now and does sell sample packs.
Unjury has a starter pack.
Bariatric eating also has samples or you can buy individual bottled drinks to try.

As for the protein coffee we all have our versions, my favorite right now is the cinnamon swirl about time protein powder with skim and decaf coffee, or  hot cocoa, protein chai tea and I think recently I saw a recipe with sugar free apple cider drink mix.  The possiblities are many!

You might also consider unflavored protein. I recently tried it and it helps a lot to increase protein in everyday items. Right now I use Any Whey unflavored and add it to my SF Koolaid that I carry with me everywhere. I am personally not a big coffee person, but I can live on Chai tea. I mix Isopure Zero Vanilla with 1/2 cup of Silk light soy unflavored, 1/2 cup brewed Chai (I buy the tea bags), 1 tbl Torani SF Vanilla syrup and a dash of cinnamon. To die for yum, yum and did I say YUM! Sometimes I use FF milk instead of soy. Just a thought if you feel like something different.

P.S. Be sure to mix the milk and protein powder first to prevent clumping.
